When I ftp into my xbox, I have to have XBMC open or the ftp connection is really slow, particularly moving from finishing one file to starting the next.

I downloaded a newer version of XBMC today, first I backed up my version of XBMC to my pc. I tried to delete the version on my xbox using flashfxp but it just causes flashfxp to freeze. Now it wont work and I cant delete it using flashfxp. Any suggestions?

Create a boot disk for you xbox that will allow you to ftp to it again....like evox or slayers.

Boot Xbox with boot disk ftp new xbmc to xbox

Can you boot in to safe mode? (Hold Y & white button during boot up) From there you have ftp access and can put xbmc back on.

created an evox boot disk but it doesnt seem to work

Followed a guide I found here http://www.tech-recipes.com/hardware_tips580.html and used a cdrw
I tried with and without a dummy file in the iso

Without the disc, my xbox boots to my evox dash as always, but xbmc wont work and if I ftp in, flashfxp just freezes.
With the disc it loads up to the xbox screen with the evox logo in the top left corner and just hangs there.

You could try using another program, like dvd2xbox, to delete XBMC from your system. And see if that improves things. Can you access other files through ftp or does that cause it to hang as well?

xbox2dvd on its way over now. Its going slowly but at least it aint hung yet.

dvd2xbox worked a treat. Got the latest version of xbmc up and running now.
