Looks good. After watching video 1, I have a small suggestion. Take the HD out of the plastic tray. It will give you better access to the IDE cable when unplugging and getting the other one in.

This can be used for Mech Assault and Splinter Cell too. He shows how to get into the exploit using 007 which is good for those with that game. MA is easier, you just load the exploit from the main screen without playing the game first.

I would get Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1 and use it for the exploit.

Overall I would say this is a great tutorial for people wanting to learn to hotswap.

i usally do unscrew the hdd from the xbox it does make it easier i know but this was a quick tut that i had remade also i know it can be used with those too i think i mentioned that if i dident thanks for the heads up..thanks for the feedback man

thanks for the vids, huge help and great alternative for the action replay method that i didnt want to buy and was causing me problems.....so i got the files on to the xbox great (using the mech assualt NDURE v1.1.1) and when i go to campaign to load the RUN LINUX i get the error "Unable to load <run linux>" tried it multiple times making sure all previous files were deleted, still no go....

any suggestions?

Try getting the exploit again. If you don't get it from Xbins it may be corrupt.

Make sure you are copying the unzipped folder into the Udata folder. Look into the unzipped folder and see if it looks like this:

ok so i verified that all the files matched up to the ones you listed, re-downloaded it, tried it again and it still doesnt work. I still get the same error message.

Can this method be applied to 1.6B? Like to try, any suggestion? thx

take me about 2weeks reading and 4hours struggling, it works on my 1.6b.

I have to say this is wonderful tutorial, easy to follow after you understand all the concept.

But I am still newbee, still tons info have to be read with Search button. I found my 70% time is just read nothing. here is my task list:

1. backup the game
2. Try to play backup Halo2
2. play backup game ( to save my original forever)
3. connect to FTP, ghost whole driver
4. change to large HD driver
5. Load applications.
6. change the dashboard
7. do whatever I like to do on it.

It is fun toy. I enjoy to dig into it, instead play game on it.

i know this is an OLD topic, and not to go grave digging, but this is a quality thread!

just managed to mod a stock xbox using this method, except i used an external HDD caddy and the splinter cell disc using Krayzies gamesaves and it worked perfectly first time.

this could save alot of people alot of time if they need a fairly quick method of softmodding an xbox, or if they dont have access to a memory card.

i have tried this but cannot get xplorer360 to read the drive... and i cant find anything to help me
