It was a long time since my last post in these forums... Thanks for making the old XBox a worth having machine until this day... it seems we won't see the same happening in this generation of machines... I will miss the old days... well if you say that two more projects is on the way... isn't worth examining how the PC-FX code in mednafen would run in the Xbox? Thanks for your hard work

Thank you, XPort.
Thanks for the educational hours of reading, initial bouts of frustration upon installation and set up and most of all...thanks for the countless hours of entertainment and awe.
The amount of time and dedication you've shown to the scene demands our deepest respects.
Oh...BTW...I faintly recall offering you one night with my wife after you released MednafenX...to which you asked for pics.
Well...you can have her as we're now divorced. That dirty bimbo.
Thanks again, man.

Thanks once again, mr. port. You are by far the main reason i even own an xbox. i've never liked any xbox games aside from maybe jade empire and SW KoTOR, and i've never even beaten one of those, but i just beat PS IV on neogenesis last month. good stuff.
I'm fairly confident that if serious emulation is ever done on the 360, it'll be done by you. I'm even more confident that i will not own one until it is. no pressure

Thank you so much Xport for all the work you've given to the scene and made the Xbox the finest console to own bar none. Although we all know the scene is winding down, there's always hope that as long as yourself and others are about the scene will not die completely - the Dreamcast scene lives on in a small capacity afterall. Glad to hear you're not going completely but you sure do deserve a long rest! Take it easy man

I'm not sure you'll bother reading each and every last post in here.
However, I would like to at least make sure I write this in your (possibly) last thread.
You've given so much to the scene, and I greatly appreciate it. All of your hard work over the years have provided me, and many others, boundless amounts of fun. I can't thank you enough.
All of your ports were always amazingly high quality, packed with features, and clearly set the bar on a console's potential as well as expected quality for homebrew.
Thank you again! Cheers!

Thank you just doesn't seen like enough. The quality and volume of projects you've released is amazing. I haven't played a native xbox game in over a year, but I still use it almost daily running your emulators. As a huge fan of retro gaming you are a godsend. The fact that I can combine 20+ game systems in a 12.5 × 4 × 10.5 inch box and run them better (1080i) and with way more features then on the original hardware is simply spectacular. Truly....... Thank you and good luck in the future. If karma's true then you got nothin to worry about.

I have no idea why some ppl have this issue.
I've installed Snes9Xbox, X68000X, NeoGenesis, WinUAEX, MekaX, MednafenX-PCE/NES, ArnoldX, XboyAdvance, DOSXbox, PCSXbox and Vice64X on my box.
All of them works just fine.

All I did was transfer the new XBE's to their respective folders. I didn't touch anything else.

thank you Xport for all your excellent emu's! I do agree with what some other people said that the main reason for many here to get the Xbox were xbmc and the emu's, which of the later to a very big extent consists of your beautiful effors. Thank you =)

NeoGenesis could be patched to allow for >32MBit games - but this is surprisingly more
work than one might expect because of the memory constraints of the XBox. It
could be done more easily using virtual memory, but then general emulation performance
would suffer. It's doable without VM, but requires more time than I feel like giving -
especially because it's only useful for one or two games.
Would it be possible to perhaps remove 32X and SegaCD emulation to free up memory?
Also on similar note, would it be possible to get a real Sega genesis to run roms that are bigger then 32mbit?
i know Super SF2 uses a mapper that allows for an extra 8mbit but i'm more curious about where the actual problem lies in the Genesis.
perhaps a weird question, but i thought perhaps because you worked with the source code you might know more about how the Genesis actually works.
Also i hope someone will look into making perhaps a version of NeoGenesis just for the UMK3 hack.

Update on trying to run the emus...
* Managed to get Dosxbox to run sum games after deleting the files in E:/saves/dosxbox
* If I delete the files in E:/saves/winuaex for Winuaex, I can now click the X button to configure but the game wont load after pressing B. Just a black screen. And when I reboot and return to configure, it freezes again. So I have to delete the saves again.
* Ive managed to get Snes9xbox to run a game by NOT selecting 720x576. If I pause the game and change to it, it will work. Though it doesnt quite look right. It looks slightly squished (checked aspect) and its like theres a filter slightly softening the image but Ive checked that Software Filter is off and its using Point Filtering. The other rez work fine like Standard 480i and 720x480 albeit a bit too zoomed in. (I cant use the others as Im using a CRT tv).
Seems theres a bug somewhere in the saves or and resolution setting.
Hope that helps someone.
bassquake
Nov 17 2007, 02:00 AM
Thought Id try NOT selecting the 720x576 after deleting the saves for Winuaex, Pcsxbox and Dosxbox and they work! But...
Unfortunately I need that rez to correctly show the games. Again, like Snes9xbox, I can change to 720x576 during the game, but not before running it or it'll hang to black.
So it seems its a common bug with Snes9xbox, Pcsxbox, Dosxbox and Winuaex.

I couldn't agree more with all of the praise posts in here - awesome contribution you've made to the community, and now an even bigger one by releasing all the sources.
BTW, I had a little trouble getting the DosXBox source to compile - seemed to be complaining about a single missing file, sdlnetx.lib. Anyway, there's more on the problem and my hacked up solution in the
dosxbox thread - it'd be cool if somebody could tell me if i'm just missing something.

there seems to be a couple of things that don't work with a couple of these emulators
in xboyadvance when toggling the rewind on the entire the game seems like its in slow motion
anyone else have this problem because it would be cool to have rewind in this emulator
and in fceultra the rewind altogether doesn't work
i know i should use the other nes emulator but this one plays kung fu and paper boy 2 and also has a smoother throttle.
whether these are going to get fixed who knows, but i just thought i should throw it out there

It seems that PAL games are not running properly with Snes9xBox, also if you change the settings for a game to "Force PAL" they run too fast. Otherwise after testing a playing a few dozens of games with this one I think it is a pretty good emulator and if one game shouldn't be playable with this one you can just choose another emulator like you can play with Snes9xBox games that they on the other hand can't

Just these few basic functions (PAL compatibility, BGM of the GUI stopping when starting a game, software filters) would be great to see fixed someday in the future

I have a audio problem with Mednafenx after playing any game for 3-5 minutes the in game audio lowers by it self then mutes. but the emulator menu still plays music and sounds. the only way to fix it is to restart the emulator, but it will just happen again.

anyone else have problems with neogenesis
it seems if you have the rewind on, certain games crash the xbox like sonic
and also i had save state problems, sometimes when i enter a game a load a save state it will load the game spot with music but it won't play. if i exit the game and reload it it will work again
kimota2004

Yeah I noticed the same problems with neogenesis and the rewind feature, I just turned it off in the end as it's not something I'd use anyway (just how cheap do u wanna get?

), noticed the slow motion works ok though.

Quick question.
You know how with NES games, they have a tendency to slow down when there is a lot of action happening at once?
Is there a way to fix this in mednafenx?
The game keeps slowing down horribly in my fight with Mother Brain!
On a side note, Xport, you're the man!

ok well I snooped around the atari800xl code and it looks like for the "old" pokey emulation clipping is turned off. My guess is it would need to be turned on. Looking at the GP32 port they have clipping turned on. Chances are that's what causing sound issues with the "old" emulation.
As for "new" emulation it does not have a "clipping" option so either it is doing it automatically or it doesn't need it for some reason. I'm not sure why the sound frequency is double on it though.
My head hurts.

I would also like to give a big thank you for the incredible amount of time you've taken from your personal life to give the xbox scene something that we would of other wise never of had!

I would be honored to help continue your projects! I just require a small push in the right direction. What do I need to learn in order to understand source code, improve/upgrade emulators, different program tools I would need, etc. I'm a super quick learner when it comes to this kind of thing. I just don't know where to go to or what I need in order to be able to understand everything I would need to know. Your advice on this would be the best I could of ever hoped for!

I have been wanting to learn about this subject for some time now. With the release of your source codes, what better way to sharpen and improve my skills!

Everyday the xbox scene is getting closer and closer to its end. Its up to us as a community to help maintain, and continue, these homebrew programs that we have all come to love and enjoy! Great work xport! I wish you the best!

Thank you for all of your work and tireless efforts in making quality emulation a reality on the XBox. Your emulators singlehandedly made what could have been an average system completely indispensable for classic gamers. The quality and features that you implemented into your projects helped raise the bar for all of the other great emulators on the XBox like ZsnexBox and Surreal 64. Thanks again for everything and for being so patient with everyone's ideas and requests.

Well after much puzzlement and a partially succesful update of the recently released atarixlbox to a later version (from 1.3.0 to 1.3.2) I finally figured out what the deal is/was with the sound problems using the new pokey emulation.
Seems that setting the number of pokey's to 2 fixes the problem. Now since that is a rather weird way to solve the problem (considering the design of the original machine itself). This issue does not seem to affect the windows/dos version of this particular emulator. This seems to be some bizzaro world issue that only plague's the xbox I'm not sure what to think.
I updated the Atarixlbox Current Discussion thread. So if anyone wants to talk more about it, just hop over there!
Anyways thanks x-port for releasing the code since you don't have time to do anything with it. Mucho appreciated! I'm one happy camper.

Xport,
All the posts you see here are probably only the tip of the iceberg. You've enabled countless hours of fun, partying, enjoyment and nostalgia in tens of thousands of living rooms everywhere in the world. I myself have setup xbox emulation boxes on 10-15 of my friends who have no idea where those emulators come from - I'm sure a lot of people in here have setup their friends too.
The xbox will probably be remembered as the most homebrewed console in history, mostly because it could run & emulate so many other systems. One thing's for sure; I'll hang on to my xbox console as long as I can, and show it to my kids when I'll have some so they know what it was like in the early days.
Your ports will live on for years.
Be very proud man.
