The story's like this. I have 2 xbox's that friends gave me because they don't work and of course, I want to have them fixed.

Xbox 1:

Everytime it starts up it freezes up. It shows the white microsoft logo, but it doesn't go any further. With a game, without a game, even if i leave the tray open. I can't quite remember if he had it softmodded beforehand or not. Anyways I've seen tutorials stating taking out the hard drive and doing some other stuff, but they're outdated. I would love the how to do it now method.

Xbox 2:

This one starts up, and goes to a screen Xbox trying to get Xbox Live update, then Xbox live can't be accessed. An eternal loop. It does it whether a game is out or in. I heard that he had tried to softmod it and messed up. I'm not quite sure. I think the hard drive thing would also work for this one.

Any help on having this done would be greatly appreciated. I do have one xbox already softmodded that works perfectly so I have done the steps before, I just want the xbox's in a state where I could softmod them or they are already (from copying C and E from my already softmodded Xbox).

You could try hotswapping. See Daddy's excellent tutorial here:

I would also suggest searching for Slayer's 2.6 or 2.7 as these have the C: partition to return the xbox back to stock.

If you can get either or both back to stock then redo the softmod.

From your info it appears xbox2 is definitely doable. Xbox1 seems questionable, but it would be worth trying.
