Hi all - great site here!!!

With all the help on here, I have managed to rip my games for backups - as fed up of the kids trashing disks!

Anyway, kids have a 360 premium, Hitachi drive, and I treated myself to an elite a few months ago (Benq).
Had them both flashed a couple of weeks ago, as my pc at the time was no good for it (new one now) and saw both working with a backup before paying.

Now, I have managed to create the iso's - using a Kreon drive (borrowed) and XBox backup creator - It wasn't easy - but the logical info on here really helped..

So burned my first disk to a verb MIS with IMGBurn - so far so good (NEC burner)

Popped it into my Elite, as that was nearest - Bingo, works fine:)

Gave it to the kids, and put the original out of sticky fingers reach! - 10 mins later - Dad, it won't work....

So thinking they had trashed another, went and had a look - Looked ok to me, so tried it in the Premium again -
Disk not readable.... Hmmm

So went upstairs - put it in my elite - worked fine????

Now - have successfuly backed up all 13 games that we have, and burned them all to Verbs, all work fine in mine, but NOT in the Premium?

So, tried various other media, Infiniti360, Datawrite, Ridisk - ALL work in the Elite, but none in the premium?

Took it back to the guy who flashed it earlier today - he plugged it in, and produced 4 of his own backups, on Verb, Traxdata and unbranded - EVERY one worked?????

This has really got me going mad - I wondered if the premium was just not reading the media, so backed up a DL movie to a verb, and an infiniti 360 - put them into the premium and they play perfectly...

I have searched on here, and can't find the specific probs I am having, so sorry if there is a post that I haven't seen.

Incidentally, the drive in the premium make a lot of chattering noises trying to read the backups - but NOT when reading a movie from the same media.

Any help or tips appreciated - this is driving me mad, and I still have to let the kids use originals, which I am sure they actually eat.

Thanks, and apols for long post

PS have also cleaned the laser in the premium by opening it up - was also wondering if it's worth trying my drive in the premium and vice versa, or is that a no no?

Wich firmare is on the premium?

I would update the premium with the latest firmware wich has better media detection.

Hmm, not sure, as I had them done somewhere, as my Mobo chipset wasn't compatible - I presume there is no eas way to check?

Check your batch of verbatims, they might be made in India, and in that case you're not getting the best quality.

Or, could it be a problem with the burner? Hitachi drives are kinda picky about what they load or not, or, the laser on the premium might just be on it's way out, you coud give it a tweak and see if it improves. If it does, then it needs to be replaced.

Hmm, have looked into this tweaking - I reallly think it's a prob with the prem, as the elite has read every disc 1st time, and I'm sure if I was burning my backups incorrectly this wouldn't be the case - esp as I have now tried 5 different media, incl MIS Verbs...

However, the fact that the prem will read a movie burnt onto the same DL media, surely indicates that the laser can read from the disc?
