nba 2k8 was working for months. All of a sudden it stopped working. I burned a new backup and it worked. Next time i tried playing it, xbox doesnt even read it. no error, just sits on the dash. I burned MOD4 and it also worked on the first try and now it wont read. Older backups like gears still play... Whats going on here??? I have an ms28 with an old firmware ver

tough to tell... what media are you using verbatim?? it can also be a weak or worn laser try updating your firmware to add support for newer games

heres an update, i just tried 2k8 and it worked, i think the games i have trouble with, read on the first try if i wait an hour and power off the system. And yes all my bakups are verbatim

Clean the laser lens. If that doesn't help much, then do a pot tweak. If that works then good for you, and also means your laser is on the way out and you should look into replacing it in the near future.

Thanks for everyones help. I ordered a new laser, since it was only 30 bucks. I dont think its the firmware since nba 2k8 worked fine for 3 months before i got the problem. Will this new laser require any type of calibration, or will it just work out of the box? I know theres a solderpoint that needs to be removed.
