I've always used my onboard nForce chip for my Hitachi's but I want to try and solve this issue.

The via works fine when flashing Samsungs using iPrep and BenQ's using dosflash 16. For some reason though it won't display my Hitachi drive so it will give me the option to "press any key to boot from cd..."

I have an MSI k8n neo4 Platinum. It has 4 onboard sata ports (I think actually 8 but the RAID ones (5-8) are turned off) and during POST it displays IDE pri (master&slave) IDE sec (master&slave) and SATA ports 1-4. All in a row, no mention of the additional sata ports from the pci via 6421.

Any suggestions? As I said the Via does work, it's installed in windows, detected in iPrep and to flash other drives.

Thanks!

Be alittle more specific Shofly....are you seeing the Xtreme drive at all listed under one of those sata ports which show up? I would suggest to try the number 0 sata port or the one that is known as the primary master port. Which ever one that is the main port interface. Try unplugging your primary master HDD (SATA) and use that port. If you have a sata hdd set as primary master, then use that port.
