I am looking to spend around $95 shipped. I just bought one off ebay with the same specs for $94 shipped, so I am trying to stay in the same price range.

I would also like a 120 gig hdd but there seems to be different opinions on this forum. One is that a 120 gig drive with 8 meg cache and 7200rpm will overheat in your xbox. I would rather have the faster hard drive if it will work properly. I have searched on this forum for a list of compatible 120 gig drives that are lockable but couldn't find one. It would be nice if a sticky was made with confirmed lockable 120 gig drives and whether it is better to use 2mb cache 5400 rpm drives or 8 meg cache 7200 rpm drives.

if you get a 7200 rpm hdd, just put a fan under your hdd. there is a tutorial on this website. That is what i have in mine and it works great. I also did my friends xbox. He has a matox 7200 rpm and all I did was install a fan underneath and change the main xbox fan from 7volts to 12 and now the max temp is at maximum 42 C! That is down from 63 C.
I wouldnt worry too much about using 7200 rpm drive as long as you put in extra hdd fan.
Hope you find what you need.

That sounds like a lot of trouble to go through just to use a 7200 rpm drive. Can you link me to that tutorial please? Is there a meaurable performance increase if you use a 7200 rpm drive instead of a 5400 rpm drive? Which hard drive model do you have and is it lockable? Thanks in advance!
