I want to get 2 wireless routers so that I can connect my xbox 360 (from the otherside of the house) to the internet. I can either get 2 routers and put one near the internet cable and one near the xbox 360 OR I can get 1 router near the internet cable and a Netgear (or same brand as router) wireless adaptor and connect it to my xbox 360 OR I can get 1router near the internet cable and one of those plugs that you plug into the powerpoint and you can plug internet cables into it, like this

Also what router should I get thats less than AUD80. I've found a Netgear WGR614 for AUD65, a Netgear USB wireless adaptor for AUD50 and that powerline adaptor thing for AUD60.

EDIT:
I should probably add that I use staticICE.com.au to search for them. That way if you know a good router you can check the price on that and see if its under $80 or very close. A bit lazy I know but it saves me time and saves you time posting it.

What about a linksys WRT54
stepeters
the netgear 614 is a good router albeit a bit old now.

the 624 is probably a better bet.

if you're planning on using two netgears, you'll need to check
first as to whether the "routing" option can be disabled in one
of them to allow it to work as a wireless access point.

the use of "homeplugs" (via electrical mains) is recommended.

i've recently bought a couple of 14Mbps Solwise plugs off eBay
for £25 delivered and i've hooked up my son's 360 which is
in the lounge to one of them whilst the other is upstairs hooked
up to a WRT54GS router.

Are WRT54G's good?
stepeters
yeah they're ok.

my current set up utilises a WRT54GS and a WRT55AG.

there are a lot of people using the linksys 54GS because
you can (depending upon model version) flash it with
third party firmware which enables it to do more than the
standard router can.

iirc, mines a later v.6 firmware which you can't do bugger
all with. still....it works ok so it doesn't need messing with.

Ok well I dont think I'll be flashing it anyways

WRT54G's are excellent routers. I have one and have never had a problem with it since i bought it.

I've always been a Linksys fan, but my second choice would be a Netgear.

I'd say go with the WRT54G though. $65-70 bucks here in the US.

Got mine brand new at a Flea Market for $20.00 wink.gif

cool ok.
