Since I'm banned I downloaded the latest dashboard update ($SystemUpdate_12-2007.zip). It says in the instructions that you should unzip the file and put the default.xex file in the root of the CD. The problem is that there is no default.xex file in the zip file. All I got is a folder called $SystemUpdate and in that folder a file called su20076000_00000000.

What to do?

EDIT: I think that was an old manual. So I found a new one here: http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/...es.htm#download

And I did exactly as it said but when I reboot the 360 it just says "Mixed Media Disc".

I had the same problem but forgot how I remedied it.

Just follow the instructions to the dot.

its very simple i just did it yestrday, i updated my 2 yr old 360 for the first time. download the .zip file to your dektop(it can have any name). Then extract all of the files to a given location like the desktop. you'll see that the files will automatically be extracted and put in a folder called "$SystemUpdate". If thats not the case then do this: Extract all of the files on the desktop, and rename the folder to "$SystemUpdate". Its that simple. However when doing so make sure there isnt one folder inside another. i.e There should only be one folder "$SystemUpdate" inside which 1 file "su20076000_00000000" should be present. The file structure should be like this:

Folder: $SystemUpdate
File: ------->su20076000_00000000

After doing this just drag and drop the folder " $SystemUpdate" to ur cd/dvd drive and burn.
