Hey guys, I promise I am not much of a newbie when it comes to flashing drives and stuff like that. The only thing is I couldn't find a real good guide on going from a M28 to a Hitachi 59.

My M28 sounds like a jet engine and when the disk stops reading it sounds like a grinder. The Hitachi 59 360 has red ringed but the drive worked fine before that. I can easily dump and flash each drive without issue.

If someone could then give me a decent idea of how I make the Hitachi 59 work in the M28 360, I'd really appreciate it!

The answer to your query is to use firmware toolbox. The latest version I think is 4.6. It can insert your dvd key and spoof your 59dj to appear as a ms28.

Keep the key from the Hitachi as most RRoD can be repaired, but it would be a total door stop if you don't have the DVD Key. And there are people who'll pay money for these machines....

OK, I got firmware toolbox just fine.

So I open my Samsung drive's backed up firmware to find the key. Then which Hitachi bin file am I supposed to paste it into? was.bin key.bin or now.bin? And once I do that, how do I flash that to my drive?

Thanks. Only process I need to know how is to reflash Hitachi drive with new spoofed firmware.

I got the part where I take the hacked Hitachi firmware to spoof into think it's a MS28 with the MS28 key. I just need to know how to flash it to the Hitachi now, please!

I've tried looking through tutorials here, NONE is for replacing a Samsung with a Hitachi and it must be a different method than the guides here because now my Hitachi gives me one blinking red light (lower right hand corner) when I plug it into my Samsung system.

Seriously, if someone could help I'd appreciate it.

You can flash the Hitachi with toolbox.... If you follow Textbook's tutorial, the section for flashing a 78 is most applicable.....

But like I said take a dump from it first, you made need the key for the RRoD console if you ever get is fixed, or just wan to sell it as is......

Thanks man, I've been using textbook forever. The problem is I don't know which Hitachi firmware to paste the MS28 key into. The hacked firmware I plan to use? The original firmware that dumped with the drive?

So far each one that I've tried produced in my console flashing the lower right hand light red on and off.

You can try reading the second post here. It should explain everything you need to know.
