I want to change the color of my 360 to black, and heard that vinyl die is the best way to go, how long does it normally take, and also where can I get it, is there a link somewhere on the let?

check autozone or any similar auto parts store, look for Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Coating.....works pretty good, no sanding, just make sure u have a clean surface, and it's pretty close to the original texture when ur done

Why not just paint the case Black?

depends what kind of finish he wants i guess. i used a matte black krylon fusion paint the first time. the paint looked really close to the elite 360s. it made my faceplate look just like the black pelican one i bought.

i used black duplicolor vinyl dye on my console. i like the results better than paint. mainly for the texture afterwards.
