Okay, so I have a 360 with hdmi and a monitor with DVI-D/VGA (19" 1280x1024). I want to find a cable that will allow me to share the monitor with my computer (DVI Y or something). I also would like to find a way to get sound from this thing (no sound card, onboard 5.1). I have yet to purchase any cables for this project yet, and am being forced to play my xbox on an old tube tv. (ugh)

So can someone give me a direct link or specific search term for monoprice.com?

EDIT: I have one of these cables that came with my 360, can I use the HDMI for video and this for the audio? I dont really want to hack my HDMI cable...

Thanks!

Doubt this is the cheapest solution but this looks like a good switch/converter xcm HDMI crossover
I use my 360 and pc on my 1680x1050 monitor using VGA cable for pc and a DVI to HDMI cable from 360.

yes sir thats what its made for, I take the stereo audio out from that dongle thing to a stereo to headphone cable to the "line in" on my pc and get audio through my pc speakers.
If you have a good sound card with "optical in" or even "spdif in" use the optical jack on the dongle instead.

DVI splitter. Make sure you only have one unit turned on at a time, ie don't run the PC and the 360 at the same time, if you are using your PC for sound you will need to unplug the DVI cable from your PC when you run your 360. Does your monitor have a VGA input also? If so, then running your PC or your 360 through VGA would be a much better choice than using the splitter.

Alright, thanks.

However I dont really want to use VGA for either input. I game on my PC alot, and I want my XBOX to be as clear as possible.

That HDMI/DVI Box, I have looked at that before and I think it just a DVI Input + 3 HDMI Inputs and 1 HDMI Output. That's not what I'm looking for. Do you know of any simpler switchers?

EDIT: Scratch that, there is a DVI Output as well

Okay so I decided to run my comp on SVGA and my Xbox on DVI-D, and now the only thing to work out is the audio. So I was wondering if this would do the trick:

I will be plugging it into the line in on my computer so that I can hear it through my comp speakers (as suggested) but the way the adapter is advertised makes it look like its a splitter only, not a joiner. (Forgive my noobish lingo)

i would suggest not having it plugged in through the computer. plugged directly into the speakers is the best way to go, otherwise there may be lag with the sound

It's not a splitter or a joiner, it's an adapter.
