Why microsoft can't do the same thing?

They don't want to cut costs down?
The don't want to stop RROD?
The don't want to reduce power consumption?
They don't want to get rid of the power brick?

Cant find the link for the XS news story on it but MS have reportedly had plans for 45nm chips since early last year and we should/might be seeing them in consoles by late 2008. You can be sure that if 45nm chips can save Microsoft money then they'll be working on it. It takes time for these things to be redesigned, manufactured and find their way into the final product.
