My chipset is intel 915 ICH6R. My Harddrive is sata. I can see it in the bios. Could it be that the drive has no FW seeing that it is new?
scuba156
you drive has stock firmware.

i would suggest purchasing a via sata 6241 PCI card

The drive that came with the xbox360 was a hitachi 47. I can not get it to play backups. So my sata will work with the Sam 25?
xbmod
I notice something about the 10,000 time I rebooted. The TSSTcorpDVD-ROM TS-H943A ms28. Does this mean I have ms28 instead of a ms25. The drive lable F/W=ms25.

scuba156
yes its an MS28 which requires a VIA sata card

If you werwe sold the drive and told it was an MS25.. you may not have been mislead..

During the transition when MS was updating the drives.. there were reported cases of them forgetting to change the sticker.

that's the same spot that i'm getting stuck at,
after that it just hangs.

but instead i'm using Xblaster 360 NE, and i have a intel motherboard (Intel D975XBX2 to be exact),
with onboard sata.
i'm running windows vista ultimate x64, i also tried win XP sp2, and the same thing.

i'm patient though, hopefully we will get some tools soon that we don't need a "via sata".
scuba156
there will never be tools to alllow you to flash a MS28 without a VIA sata card. its been this way for over a year now.

VIA sata cards are cheap anyway and can be found for around $12

Ok I got my via card. I finally got it to read, but know it is saying No valid key found in backup Key block not copied. Do I need the key off my Hitachi drive? If so, how do I retreive it? Not how do I fix the troblem?
scuba156
so your replacing your hitachi with a samsung? should of said from the start then.

you need to read the key off the hitachi using firmware toolbox and copy the key over to either your Sam-OFW or using iXtreme 1.41, depending on your preference, and then use FWTB to spoof the samsung as your hitachi and flash that to your samsung

Post #7 doesn't say anything like that we are not mind readers...

Explain your exact problem in a clear manner and we can help. You do realize by doing things without full knowledge if you brick a drive you have bricked the WHOLE system. Drives are not swappable between systems if you don't have the key.

On that note...

What EXACTLY is wrong with the original Hitachi drive???

Sorry for not being clear my spelling and grammer sucks. The hitachi drive will not play my backups, I got it to play one and one time. I get unreadable or unplayable disk . I put iXtreme1.4_Hitachi_C4EVA_rev1 on it. I have the key. For the Sam ms28. I got it start the flashing but then it would say Sam CFW not found. Some how I finily got to flash. Then the would not even bootup. So then when into mtkflash and type in mtkflash e. Now I get the E65. Hope this helps you help me. Thanks
Havok
Yes thank you.

Download iXtreme v1.41 for Samsung. Copy your valid Hitachi key into the iXtreme firmware using Firmware toolbox.

Then

1. Boot to Dos with all other drives (CD/DVD Roms, Hard Drives) disconnected except the Samsung MS28.

2. Power up the Xbox 360.

3. Run "mtkflash w /m /sata filename.bin" with filename=to the iXtreme v1.41 file with key added.
- It should show VIA as the first option. Dont press anything yet.

4. Turn the Xbox 360 off. Hit '1' for the VIA card wait 10 seconds (1 missisipi, 2 missisipi, etc.)

5. Turn the Xbox 360 back on. It should cycle through "writing banks"

And you should be done.

Thanks scuba156 and Havok, So the E65 can be fixed. I am using the connective kit. When I try this I back to pictures in post #3. Nothing happens.
Havok
On the VIA card are you using the port closest to the front of the PC?

If so, just keep trying the steps with slightly different timings.

I would try without the connectivity kit.. it may be interfering. It really doesn't do anything except for Hitachi drives.
