I think I'm finally happy that my kreon drive is correctly ripping games now, but I've noticed that xbc and schtrom seem to make slightly different images.

If I rip in Schtrom, the rips gets the green light from xbc, mulleter and itself.

If I rip in xbc, only mullter and itself give the ok. schtrom complains about "video layer 0 blank".

Both programs are supposed to be making splitvid images so I assume the technique used by them is slightly different. is schtrom complaining because xbc is putting the video on boths layers 0 and 1?

and if that's the case, which method is preferable? I really prefer xbc's interface and simplicity, but I guess the end goal is to make the most accurate backups possible... Should I be ripping everything with schtrom?

Thanks

oh, and just in case it matters.

My XBC rips are coming out 100% passing on all 3. The only read setting I see that would pertain to the video layer are: Build SplitVid ISO (checked) and Add Filler to Video (unchecked). Are you using similar settings?

thanks for your reply, I have similar settings, but your post made me wonder a bit about the "add tag info" option and where it was storing that info.

I just did an experiment with it both off and on and it appears that the tag info must be being stored in the blank video layer 0. I'd assume that burning with xbc with the "remove tag info" option checked would result in discs that schtrom is happy with, but to be safe I'm turning off the option
