Hello!

Just got my Benq drive flashed with ixtreme 1.4.1 (8x) and got a problem when i run backups on my xbox its more noisy "loading" sounds, than when I'm using originals.

I got a Nec Pata burner and used verbatim dvd's. Should I invest in a new burner? Or do you guys got any suggesions?
popley
just buy the games and support the developers.
scuba156
who ever said he was pirating his games? dont come here with those assumptions

the drive being louder is due to the drive having to seek harder. burned discs are no where near the quality of a pressed disc

i would suggest using 5x firmware, it lowers the seek noise considerably
Shallow012
Agreed, where exactly in his post does he indicate hes pirating software? Maybe we should assume youre a pirate just for being a member of this forum.

thx guys, I'll try using 5x.

And to popley:

I'm backing up my original games, so my children dont break them. And I have to buy new games every time for hundreds of dollars.

I thought you couldnt rip games using a NEC burner. Can you flash a NEC with kreons FW?
mattzane227
He didn't say he was ripping then w/ the NEC. He said he was burning them with a NEC burner.
Martinchris23
You shouldn't need to use 5x - when you say noisy, can you be more specific? Is it only when the disc spins faster?

Also, is it better when the 360 is horizontal rather than vertical?

Couldnt he burn them with his kreon drive if his NEC aint working?
danipukok
kreon drives rip games not burn them

as for the NEC burner im using a NEC 3520A (IDE) on another pc to burn games works fine i find it's always best to use 5x over any other firmwarw whether it's noisy or not it'll make games load better and increase laser life and the load times are around 1-2 seconds slower

I guess if i had 12x on my xbox 360 then it would run twice as fast and also load twice as fast than a 5x drive. Are you on about burning them or something?
Scan-C
Nope he's about seek time and loading. If you have a 12x firmware the drive is theoretically able to load more than 2 times faster as with 5x but it doesn't. Actually the disc spins faster and the laser tries to read the same section more often as with the 5x firmware but fails more often.
So let's assume the laser is pretty good and reads the needed section fast you will see decreasing load times between 12x and 5x but it won't be twice as fast. On 12x the laser may fail about 2 times before it finally reads the section and on 5x it may fail only one time because a slower disc is easier to read. That's why you don't see dramatical slowdowns when you flash a slower firmware.

Its not spinning sounds, its more like "loading" sounds. Like its changing tracks. If its to any help smile.gif

That's what you hear when the drive spins faster smile.gif The laser moves more often to adjust itself. If you want to play a lot of backups and 1-3 sec more load times don't matter reflash with the 5x firmware.
