i cannot get dvd2xbox ftp'd into my xbox where i can see it shouldnt it be visible at the dashboard under applications?

Have you rebooted the Xbox?
Have you looked in the folder you put it in to see if there is a default.xbe file?
Did you put it in the root of the E:\Apps folder?
