Hi guys,

Not good going for my 1st post i know but i'm so damn confussed i dont know where to look.
My dilema is this......
I live in Africa, I come to the UK every 6 months to vist my family and friends.
I bought a premodded 360 last year june, i've used it and to date i've not had any problems with it (touch wood)
Because my 360 was premodded I have no idea what make DVD rom is inside, I want to update it with the lateest firmware but I only have a laptop to update it with.
So my question is this........

What do I buy to update the firmware from my laptop to my 360? and will I need extra power for it? (been looking at the Blaster 360 NE but i dont have a pc, only a laptop)

If I buy what ever I need to buy will it be able to update any dvd rom drive?

Firmware files, which files would I need? And where from?

OR

would it be easier to buy a new dvd rom and take it back with me?
I return back in 3 weeks

I know the questions are dumb but I am completely lost, I need to get everything from here coz where I stay its pretty remote and internet access is very limited so I need to buy and download everything I need form here before I go.

Thanks for reading.

Read the "textbook tutorial". Its sticked up top or just search google for it.

If you have a Hitachi drive you will be able to use your laptop... if you drive is any other model then you will need a PC with a VIA card.

You cant just buy a new DVDRom because they are tied to the system.

As far as where to look.. the stickeis again are a good place to start.

You really don't need the lastest firmware unless you go on Live.

Thanks for the advice mate, I'll have another dig around and see what I can find.
Not interestedin Xboxlive, so I guess the firmware dont have to be latest.

seeing as your not interested in LIVE and because you have no problems with it, then i wouldnt worry about updating it as you wont get any new features or benefits. the older firmwares actually have more features
