Ok so a looong time ago when modding the 360 was still in its first fase.
I casemodded my 360 and the drive...and by that it so happened the sticker on the DVD drive is gone.
which means I don't know what version i have.
It is a Hitachi drive that I know for sure and the box was bought somewhere around christmas time 2005
Which means its an release xbox for me...never had a problem with the xbox so thats good.

So my question is can I still find out what version I have..?
I checked the site which was posted a couple of topics down, but can't seem to find oen which could indicate i have..is it safe to assume some close to mine

That would be great.

Also how do I go about checking If my pc has a compatible SATA chip etc.?

Thanks in advance.

Already knew that it was a hitachi, im talking about the thing like 46DH, 47DG, 47DJ, 59DJ ,78FK
where can i see which one it is
WTFudge
If its a launch console it'll be either a 46 or 47 . It won't be a 78fk . Download Textbook's tutorial (google it ) and you'll know exactly what to do .

ahh ok..
I could have guessed that it would be an early version but had to check for sure..
I have the textbook pdf, still trying to figure how i'm gonna do it.
But I guess its easiest to use the usb thing, except I don't have money now to buy the thing xD
I can lend a PCI SATA card from somebody so thats no biggie, now to see how i go about putting it in mode5

If you dump your firmware & open the .bin file in firmware toolbox it will give you the drive version.

Also, using the command prompt, GaryOPA's firmware scripts will auto detect drive revision and flash accordingly.

Textbooks tutorial

Page 138 on Textbooks tutorial explains how to get the drive recognised in Windows (modeb)

If it already has been flashed and you want to update it you want to restore first - read page 150

Page 152 to flash the drive using command prompt

If ever in doubt, ask!
