ixtreme 1.5 isn't rumored to be a liteon release. it is rumored to just improve the spoofing capabilities of the other drives. just do a search, and you'll find all the answers you need. if i'm not mistaken, you will have to do some soldering to get the key from your liteon drive.

I am in no means a hacker but have been following news fervently, very much interested but did not understand a word of what bongo meant there

i've got no idea what he's talking about. it looks like he is analyzing a different lite-on drive, and trying to use what he learns from that on the 360's liteon drive. unfortunately, i think he is going to hit a dead end and not much will come from what he is doing.

i think he is just taking his native language and tossing it into a web translator, so it is a bit hard to get the complete story from his posts due to the garbling thats happening.

okay what he means is that hackers used benqfirmware to operate on that samsung drive so how about
modifying the same firmware to work on liteon ? maybe geremia or C4EVA will give as an answer

I suggest you check out the modfreakz link he refers to (youtube video). They show how a flashed philips pc sata drive with benq firmware runs dvds (backups or original dunno) on a 360.

Pretty neat actually and that's over a year ago... seems cheaper to me than spoofing with another 360 drive.

phillips and benq are the same company. they were probably very similar drives. with the benq and liteon, one would assume the firmware would be pretty different, and purposely designed that way.

just been helping my bro install a dvd rom on his pc over the webcam and i notice that the drive is very similair to the 360 drive looks the same apart from the power supply, it's a dh-16d3s

Anyways I think bonzo mentioned something about a 26df161 no ISP programmer. From what I understood from that sentence was that he found a way to dump a firmware from pretty much the same chip. Then again I could be miles off

Hi guys i managed to see the drive with the 360 Xtreactor tool reader. I managed to take the key but when i go prepare spoof firmware it take the key.bin file ok but inquiry.bin say not 96bytes file and the identify.bin say not 512 bytes file any one can help please.

I've read every post in this thread since last friday, when I purchased a 360, not knowing there was a knew drive since my last drive flash.

After your post I can't decide if I'm excited or not. I'm one of those people who always believes a mod will come because it pretty much has (on various systems).

I've been telling myself I bought this at the best time I could get one of these drives but I don't know if I should really be jumping at this news because theres been a lot like it since April.

and why exactly is this? the liteon is flashable, we just need a firmware for it. without a firmware, it would be impossible to design a modchip. i predict we will get both at roughly the same time, since there are people that insist on a chip due to the false sense of security they give.

I agree with OggyUK. This thread is getting ridiculous. Here is a summary of the 400+ posts in this thread:

1) There is no hacked firmware for the LiteOn drive
2) You can replace the drive with a moddable drive tutorial HERE
3) You will have to spoof your replacement drive as a LiteOn. No one knows for sure if this is more detecable on Live, but it most likely is. Your best bet is to replace it with a BenQ as it is the most similar to the LiteOn.
4) The drives firmware can be written to and erased, however since it cannot be dumped yet it is impossible to create hacked firmware
5) NO ONE KNOWS WHEN A HACKED FIRMWARE WILL BE AVAILABLE (ie firmware dumped and a hacked version created). There are people (C4Eva's team working on it).


That pretty much summarizes 400+ posts. This is supposed to be a technical thread, feel free to post if you have any technical info on getting the firmware dumped. Otherwise, if would be nice if we could stop seeing the same questions, all of which are answered in the 5 points above. I am not a mod or anything...just a huge fan of this website

Here is my suggestion to those with the new Liteon drive (this is the easiest way to get a new modded Pro/60GB system):

-Purchase an additional Samsung drive from eBay like this one

-Purchase a 360 Xtractor (don't buy the spear it's a waste of money) from one of the resellers here (I recommend vgcrepairs.biz since they have the cheapest/fastest shipping and are located out of California. Also, I had an issue with shipping, gave VGC Repairs a call, and they had the problem sorted out immediately! Their customer service is absolutely fantastic!)

-Hook up your 360 Xtractor, install the proper drivers/programs, and get everything ready as they tell you to on Maximus's website

-Go to this thread and only follow the instructions for bridging R707 and R708 with pieces of solder and scotch tape (yes it really works and saves you ~15 dollars on the spear; if you don't trust yourself with solder and scotch tape, you should probably buy the spear along with the 360 Xtractor). If someone wants a sample picture of what the taped solder should look like, just let me know and I will post a picture for you

-Extract you Liteon key (you'll have 3 separate files from the extraction)

-Inject the key into your hacked Samsung firmware

-Flash your Samsung with the hacked firmware

-Remove the bridges from R707 and R708 on your Liteon drive and save your Liteon drive for if/when c4eva releases new iXtreme firmware for it

-Put the Samsung drive back in your new system party it up

I didn't include a great deal of specific information on the key extraction/injection and firmware processes because that information is already well documented by others (you should be able to find everything you need with a little digging and all of the links supplied here). This might be the easiest way to get your Liteon key but the least expensive way is to build/find an RS232 to TTL converter on eBay and follow Krystm's marvelous tutorial/thread that I linked earlier. There's no guarantee that hacked firmware will be out for this drive but based on how much hard work c4eva, his team, and other major contributor's of the scene have put into these projects, I'm sure we'll see hacked firmware with time. So please, stop asking when/if it's going to be out and if you really want a modded system, buy an older, used system with a moddable drive or spoof an older drive (Samsung/Hitachi/Benq) to you Liteon. I only suggested buying a Samsung drive because they are about half as expensive as Benq drives on average after shipping (a $30 Samsung shipped is a really decent deal from what I've seen). If you want to be safer when playing on Xbox Live, I recommend getting a Benq drive because, from what I've read, the older drives (Hitachi/Samsung) are missing certain functions that the newer drives (Benq/Liteon) have. However, I'm not responsible for you getting banned from Xbox Live or any damage you cause to your Xbox 360, drives, or computer. If you are too afraid to take any risk of getting banned from Xbox Live, don't modify your console! There is always a risk of getting banned from Xbox Live if you do play your modified console online. Feel free to add questions, comments, concerns, death threats (hopefully not), or anything else that relates to this mini-guide or helps people cope with the Liteon's shittiness until firmware is (more than likely) dumped by c4eva's team.

Here's a picture of the tape job/solder bridge. Yeah, Krystm, on your picture you had bridged both receive and transmit data, do you only have to do transmit since you are only extracting the key? It doesn't hurt anything to bridge both but if you don't have to, then you might as well only do TxD.

Yeah if you read it its just the TX Thats how I did it the 2nd time just to check aginst the key that the Maximus software pulled. Not that it matters cause now that spoofed drive I was using for lite on is now replacing a BenQ that was broken so no Spoofing needed AND its and elite wooty woo!

we all know C4eva is doing his best. he doesn;t like to publish half things or give us crap. give the guy some credit and don;t stress him. believe me, when it's finished he'll let us know. and as far as i can imagine, he probably wants this himself as well to be hacked.

but us having non technical conversations in this topic will not help him out. anything technical found out by you of course would help him. but as i read the last pages of this thread C4eva probably isn;t reading this thread at all anymore cus he knows no one is posting anything technical here anymore. although it;s in the technical forum.

so give the guy a break and check this thread if you want to but don;t post non-technical stuff here as it won;t make the process quicker, will only lead to agitation and getting this thread closed.

From what i understand, it's possible to read the dvdkey and then burn this to a BENQ or similar drive...
What this doesn't allow is safe playing on the LIVE service. Call this the second drive option.

So what about currently if you want to play backuped games yadda..yadd..yadda... show your GF you uberness at playing ripped software then choose the second drive option.

When you want want to play live, go option one

When you want to play offline with your own hacked version of GOW2 where you are uber elite and all the game characters are naked images of Sara Palin, then choose option two

Now, that having said. I like to know if theres any but ANY litle hope , any way at all to get the key read out using only the drive and xbox36O to powerup the drive obviously and 1 pci sata controller card (no solder , no connectivity kit, no anything else wotsoever!!)?

Currently, no, all you can get is the Inquiry / Identify files through Sata.

Only way to get Drive key is using th RS232 TTL cable posted throught the many posts on the board.

And the Xtractor 360 by Maximus....

is there any technical reason for the serial port access being there to begin with? (what i'm getting at is that with the lpc bus on the xbox1, it was used by microsoft for testing and couldn't be removed because of that. does this server any similar function that would make it difficult for ms to remove?)

I have no idea, but it is intact on BenQ, 'disabled' on the LiteOn, but present on the VAD6039.

I guess its *not* needed but patching it wouldnt remove it, just remove the way we can use it.

I did an internship at a company that essential makes wireless serial ports. A lot of devices have serial ports on them, it is a useful thing to have, they can easily be used for diagnostic, reading, writing.. etc.

My guess is that it is hard to remove them because of this. When they run the devices through the factory, you can pull randomly off the line, plug in to the serial port, and QC the line.
