Ya they only block certain achievements so after that you can use them w/o issue, though it does keep track and there is a rumor of it not letting you 100% the game

If I take my hard drive out would it be safe to use the cheats and still get the achievements that are blocked?

Just want to have some fun.

If you do that then you wont be able to sign into you gamertag to unlock anything. If you use a cheat code just make sure you don't save the game. Or alternatively make a separate save just for using cheats on.
