Full Version: Tsop Solder Point Confusion

Hi, I've done a chipped mod and a TSOP mod but noticed while doing it that guides rarely seem to match up in information.

I guess the real confusion for me seems to be, while every guide seems to agree on the first solder point (MCPX RD# to OE# on the top of a board) the second point seems a lot more obscure.

Some guides seem to say bridge these points (MCPX WR# to Flash WE#):

While the noob guide by SlushiE says to join "WE# and WR#" with a wire as the second point (The point right below R7R4 and right above C7R3).

Which is correct? Do they both work? I know I did the MCPX bridge and it seemed to work for me, but if I do another one I would kind of like to know for sure why one guide says one thing and another says another thing.

there are often several points at which the bridge can be made, if you look at the points in your picture you can see the trace from WR# at the top (near the screw hole) goes right down to the bottom WR# pad, it even makes an appearance on the top of the board

its the one in yellow (more images in the "Alternate Points" link in my sig)

just solder whatevers easiest for you, in fact i knew a guy who would the top WR# point to the third leg of the TSOP chip just so he didnt have to take the motherboard out of the case, lol
