i recently purchased a cake box of these DVD+DL 8X MBI Waterproof Glossy Label from a canadian website blankmedia.ca. the website claims that MBI (Moser Baer) makes OEM media for Verbatim, Imatation and other prominant manufacturers around the world. up until now, i don't trust any other media for DVD+DL for xbox 360 backups and my DVD-VIDEO backups because of their low PI/PO error rate scans. has anyone had great sucess with these disks? i tried doing a search on these disk and couldn't find anything conclusive. please share your sucess/failure rate with these disks. thanks

edit:

btw the media code manufacturer is RICOHJPNSD0

media code is

Since media code is RICOHJPN, I would personally stay away. This has been reported time and time again as being an inferior dye. Sure it could work but there is no way to ensure it will continue to work over time. For some reason, RICOHJPN dyes seem to lose their function over time. I think this is why time and time again people always point back to Made In Singapore Verbatim DL.

i burned a backup copy of xbox 360 Iron Man onto one of these disks MBI (MOSER BAER INDIA) MEDIA CODE RICOHJPN-D01-67 and did a scan using dvdinfo pro 5.03. the scan froze at the half way point which is probably the layer break. did the same on one of my MIS Verbatims and it did the same thing. anyway, here is a screenshot of the scan of the MBI disk.

edit: btw, i burned the game on Imgburn @ 2.4x

here is a scan of the MIS (Made in Singapore) Verbatims MKM 001'S burned at the same speed 2.4X on Imgburn 2.4.1.0

it seems to me the disks from MBI seem pretty good although there is a bit more pi and pif but that is to be expected since nobody beats Verbatims in terms of quality anyway. the results are pretty close. i have no idea why both disks freeze at the midway point though...theres about a 6 percent quality difference between the two. however, time will tell if the RICOH dye will last or not. as far as the print quality on the glossy labels, the print is great with a bit of stacking ring mark in the middle but not really noticeable
