So, in the process of upgrading the hdd on another xbox, the box died. I have tried to resurrect it to no avail yet, and I think I might have better prospects with another console that i'm working on. I would like to use the hdd from my old box, but the eeprom backup is on the locked drive itself.
Does the xbox still unlock the hdd when there is a 3 boot FRAG? If so, I might be able to use hotswapping to remedy the situation and transplant the hdd to lock it into another xbox.
I only have a laptop so xboxhdm isn't an option without a lot of hassle. Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

well the drive isnt unlocked with a FRAG, so hotswaping is out of the question, hotswapping wouldnt work anyway unless you got the eeprom backed up on the HD, as it just unlocks the HD< it doesnt disable the lock (so as soon as you power off the drive its locked again, and you still need the original eeprom to disable the lock)
best bet will probably be to make an eeprom reader (there are tutorials floating around) then flash the eeprom to another xbox

if there isn't anything personal on the harddrive (IE family photos and such) or its not the stock 10 gb you are better of starting from scratch. most all game saves and such can usually be found online and you can just download and ftp over.

And if you want to keep the hdd (assuming it works) hddunlock.com works on xbox hard drives, but again it will be formatted into NTFS so you will loose files on the hard drive. Just you save a few dollars and time unlocking it. You just got to use XboxHDM to reformat into FatX.
