I go to turn my xbox on and I get greeted with strips. Then when I turn it on again I get no picture, only sound. I have just played like 5-6 hours ago and now it stopped working grr.gif I checked all the cables and they are all plugged in (if they weren't then I wouldn't've seen the stripes.... I am using a official VGA cable and have tested on a TV via the original cable, so that cuts the fault of the TV/monitor and cables...

Any ideas as to what it could be and what I can do to fix it? I am outside my 1 year warranty too >_<

You should have a 3 year warranty...

If you don't, time to break out the x-clamp mods.

I thought 3 year warranty was only for RROD?

You need to argue with Microsoft. The no video problem and the 3 red lights (at least error 0102) are basically the same thing.

I get the same problem, neither video or sound. I pull games in and it spin. Also test with different AV cable without video. My console mfd 2006-06-01 meaning June-01?? It should has three years warranty on right?

I have the same problem. My console was bought 12-20-06 and in early January this year I started getting issues with colors and eventually no video. Tried composite, component, and VGA and none of them worked.

I argued with MS about the 3 year thing only to be transferred from one tech support to another with the same BS about how I wasn't covered in their PR BS about accounting for the crap they put out. I got really tired of it and the fact I would have to pay $100 for a repair, which would probably net me a refurb console and I didn't want some left over lemon that I would have to return before the year was up.

I bought a replacement arcade, and went about fixing my premium console. First thing was a X-Clamp fix which helped. Thing ran fine another 5 months and I took my arcade back and got a Wii while I was at it.

Then right as things started heating up the discoloration came back and eventually no video. I had just got done making a stand that that went around my 360 so I could place my new PS3 over it without any clearance or heat issues. Didn't want them standing vertical either.

It's a real bitch because it boots fine. I get sound and know it's rendering fine, but the scalar chip or the bridge to it is messed up. Applying heat to the chip and bridge fixed it for several hours testing it on a small LCD, but when I put it back together and ran some games at 1080p the discoloration came back in several minutes and then on a reboot no video, and no red rings ever.

Have no real want to fix it anymore either or buy a replacement as I have a PS3 now for MGS4 and Wii I haven't gotten much play time out of. Although I did enjoy online and I have enough games that cost more then the core console itself.

Cheap MS can't even put fake chrome on the dvd bezel and eject button always reminding you that you got shafted and can buy face plates on but changing the bezel and eject button would break the crappy warranty sticker.
