I have this program called C-Xbox Tools and it has something for "XBE patching". I wonder what XBE patching even means. I thought you would have to patch it with something (like modded code), but it doesn't have a way to select anything to patch it with. So could someone please tell me what in the world it means to patch an XBE file?

In the early days of modding and getting games on the Xbox, or to work off the DVD, the game had to be patched. The Xbe file is the executable file for the game.

With newer software such as DVD2Xbox, there isn't a need to patch the game.

This is the simplest of explanations and I am sure there may be more to it, but you get the idea.

What is DVD2Xbox? Is it a program for burning XISO diskimages onto DVDs? If I want to not "patch" the game do I need DVD2Xbox? Please tell me more.
