http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemus...stemupdates.htm

there are instructions and a link to the fall 07 update...

"Fall 2007 Media Update In the Fall of 2007, Microsoft released a media update for the Xbox 360 console to improve multimedia support. If you did not get this update yet, but you do have Xbox Live, then before this guide is over you will most likely have updated your Media capabilities. If you do not have Xbox Live or the media update then most hope of playing AVI files "directly" are gone, but if you have a wireless network then you can skip to the TVersity streaming method."

i dont mess with live or play divx movies on my 360 i use my Philips DVP5960, so I can't confirm this will fix your problem but its worth a shot right?

thanks for the link but it seems that update the console dont work for him through cd

is there any other way to make that console play Divx without going live?!

that linked update does NOT include the DiVX support, it just includes the necessities for it (the license is still required). MS pays money for every optional media update downloaded, so they need to keep track of who has it and who doesnt. the only way to track it is via LIVE, so the update is only available through LIVE. there is no other way to get it, and the update is tied to the console so you cant get it from another console

one of the disadvantages of being banned

Try making a new profile on the Xbox. My migrated profile wouldn't play DivX/XviD unless connected to Live. I made a new profile and it allows me to watch those movies offline. Worth a try. That is if it lets you make a profile offline that is.

That is correct. This was thoroughly explored when the divx update came out.

I foudn this a pain in the butt too, not with a banned console but I bought a new one to go downstaires to stream too from an external HDD. Wasnt connected to live and got tons of problems so in the end I bought a wireless adaptor and my problem was fixed.

I suppose you could use TVersity or something like that over the network if it will work :/
