Is it possible someone could add the ability to list songs by their year. All my mp3 files have the their music chart release date set in the files TAG & it would be nice if it was possible to list all my mp3 files by the year then i could have XBMC play them in order of their age ascending old to new or vise versa.

First step is to scan all your music into the library.
I'm not sure whether the "songs" view will sort by year or not, but that'd be the first thing to try.
If not, create a smartplaylist (playlists->new smart playlist).
Name it appropriately ("All songs, sorted by year").
Let's assume you want all songs -> you don't want any rules. You can add rules later if you want to filter out specific years or whatever.
Change the Order By spinner to "Year" or whatever it is. Make sure order is "ascending".
Click OK.
Then click said playlist, and change the "Sort order" on the left to "Playlist".
Done
