I need help with a mod. I am doing a case mod and i need to remove the power from the wii's motherboard and run it to a new location.

do I need a specific gauge wire or will any standard wire do?

the wii is only 12 volts so...

I would use 16-18 gauge wire if i were you. Wii is 3.7amp so that should be more then strong enough and still be small enough that it will be easy for you to work with.
