I left it unplugged for a while, not too sure how long, but when i turn it on it frags and gives me error code 16, i've read it has to do with the clock, the chip sometimes lights up strong, sometimes its weak or it doesn't light up at all. The motherboard is v1.6, I'm not sure if it's 1.6b or not. Basically, I'm not sure if the clock setting is whats wrong with it or the chip is giving out. uhh.gif

I've cleaned the gold pins and reseated it. I hope this makes sense and appreciate the help. smile.gif

Right, im presuming you have the solderless kit Xenium Gold. Lift it from the board, if you have a 1.6 it has a wierd adapter too, lift everything till you can see the pairs of seats ( i think theres about 12 or so cant remember) looking from the the front of the xbox regardless of model the first 2 to 4 pin holes should have little brass inserts in them, with small shoulders so they dont fall through the board. Dont bother putting the inserts in any of the other holes as for some reason it produces the problems you are having. Recap i think only holes 1 2 4 need inserts, 4 being the right hand one. Some boards dont need any inserts although i havent worked on one yet that doesnt behave better without them.

PS. in my opinion its not a clock problem i think. Dont think generation 3 4 or 4.5 are affected by the clock. It really sounds like a seating problem. Could also be the adapter wire that reaches to the DO point no quite deep enough.
