Try it without the Blaster - they seem to cause problems for many people.

Well im going to have to buy a molex power supply first

I'm looking around online for what it looks like. I don't know what a molex power supply is. I know i have a extra PC power supply here.
podger
Molex just refers to the 4 pin connector that powers a HDD or DVD/CD.....

OK. I'll just ground the console to my PC

Well i ran iprep and it said my VIA VT6421 raid controller is MTKFash and DosFlash Compatible. Its a SCSI based controller though. Does that mean i need a different sata card?

Why are you using Slax?
Doesnt the Blaster put the Hitachi into ModeB?

Yeah it does but it does not get detected in windows for some reason.

The power led is flashing like its supposed to. I went by the blaster 360ne tut.

This one http://www.team-xecuter.com/blaster360/ins...laster360ne.htm but it does not get detected.

Ive had this problem with a few Hitachi drives myself on my VIA8237 onboard chipset....

Hitachi47dj(worst offender) I do these on the same PC but use the onboard SIL3114 chipset

Hitachi78(rare) I do these on my VIA6421 PCI card

If you have access to another PC/chipset try that or make sure your VIA drivers are bang up to date.

I went and downloaded some drivers and installed them and the same thing happens.

I just cant get pass this screen.

At least this shows that it can detect it i guess.

Is your operating system on a drive plugged into the VIA6421?

If not plug the 360 drive into the sata port furthest from the rear of PC & plug yr OS drive into the other SATA port or into the IDE port whichever drive type it is.

Make sure your BIOS is set to boot from a PCI add-in card or whatever your bios calls it.

EDIT** have you tried switching on the 360 once windows has booted?
devilstrider
This is the driver page but it does not say which one is the newest. I downloaded the first one. But when i get to that dectect screen it says VIA 4.40. When i installed the drivers it said it was 5.50

No my operating system is on a regular IDE plug. I only have the 360 drive plugged in the sata port.

Plug the IDE drive into the VIA card and boot to that see if it makes a difference.
Also worth trying to power on the 360 once windows has booted.
devilstrider
Ok i just tested the OS drive plugged into the IDE port on the sata card. Its in windows because im typing this message from it.

devilstrider
Screw the blaster. I did it the old way with the pins and resistor. Flashed and ready to go.
