I bought a 360 on ebay that wont read disks, it has the Hitachi 0078 drive that wont spin. I took the board out and put it into another hitachi but it still doesn't spin, I can get into modeb but it does me no good do to the fact it will not spin. all I need is the key so I can replace it with another drive, can anyone help?

Sounds like the MCIC (motor control IC) has died on you. Without replacing it with a working one, your only option is to remove the TSOP and dump the data using a programmer.

I'm guessing the chip you're talking about is the one closest to the plug for the motor cable? and is it the same IC as the one I have on 0046 board?

It's the same type of chip, but a different version. The logic inside works differently and won't be able to address the information well enough to control the drive.

Does anyone know of anyone who I could send the drive board to and get the key from it?

Check the modchip installer thread - I'm sure you'll find someone there who's local to you who offers this service
