My new elite came with a benq drive that i recently flashed to 1.4rev2 12x.
it worked fine and i believe it still does but gta4 has very slow texture loading issues.
this gta4 issue happened 2 days ago. i would drive a car or walk into an area and textures would slowly start to appear.

i burned a new copy of the game on 4x speed with the same results.

i have two other dead xboxes with drives just sitting there collecting dust. is it possible to use one of them instead of my current benq drive?
the only drive key i currently have is the benq drive thats currently in the system

Yes you can flash one of those drives with your current BenQ drive key and spoof it. Or wait until the fall update comes out then install the game onto the hard drive and play it from there. That should get rid of all those slow loading textures.

so as long as one of those drives reports the the same key as the benq it would work?

which drive would you recommend? the samsung or the hitachi?
i used dosflash with the benq it was very nice and easy to use.

Not just the drive key but it also needs to be spoofed so the console thinks its a benq.

Personally I find the BenQ the better of the 3 drives. Like I said as soon as the new dashboard comes out you can install the game onto your hard drive and that will get rid of your problems.

But if you insist on swapping the drive then I would go with the Samsung.

Did you try clearing the hard drive cache?? that could take care of your problem.

ya i did the ms28 drive and spoofed it for the benq

luckily i found firmware images for the samsung and i just put in my benq key and it worked great.

mtkflash is a piece of garbage. i used dosflash. worked the first time

now all my loading texture problem is gone!

heck even the videos look more textur'ized

go figure.
