Ok, I'll get it together. cool.gif

So, does that mean you found, all the box art for all of the Sg-1000 games? like I said. I have some carts If you want them.

ressurectionx
Yes... if you have carts I will take them. I have all the boxart for SG-1000 except for that "drawing pad" game that starts with a "T". There may be one other as well. I've remarked any game for any of the 3 systems as "No boxart" if I couldn't find it.

I don't mean to be dismissive about the NES names/categories right now... I'm just very wrapped up in the SMS/TG16 stuff right now.

Later,
~Rx

Datfiles being uploaded now. Get me those carts and I'll have an artwork upload in a few hours. Whenever you guys get me those last 4 vids I've got the movies ready to upload too. No more editing games at this point. Any suggested fixes will go on the "fixer" sheet.

Mega Man (?)
I understand. I didn't want to take you from what you were doing right now, either. wink.gif Carts/art.
This is a few carts and some, images that gametap had, for what ever reason.

Bigby,
Could you check out those games and do the vids? (I know I already posted this but it is quickly getting buried in our recent and lengthy conversation.
Rx, If he doesn't get back to us by tomorrow, or can't do it for what ever reason, I'll try to see what I can do, again.

Thanks - Later

EDIT: Notice, I found the boxart and Cart art for that "drawing pad" game. (sweet)
ressurectionx
Thanks! What are the gametap images?
Mega Man (?)
I dont know? They were images featured at gametap.com to preview these games. They were good quality, so I figured you might throw them in as a bonus or compensation for any that might not have a boxart. I don't know where they originated from.

Man... I couldn't even get "Othello", to work. The only other SG-1000 game that didn't work in fusion, and it is the last one... Go figure. rolleyes.gif
(none of those 4 games are working)
ressurectionx
Bummer about the vids. Too bad we don't have a DVR since all of them do work on the Box.

Don't know what to do with those gametap images since I have all the boxart for those games. I've got them in the "Wide Icons" unsorted folder. Maybe somebody would like to load these games from XBMC with them some day....?

Artwork zipped up and uploading as we speak. Like I said, whenever the last 4 vids make it I'm all set to zip that all up and upload them as well.

Thanks again guys,
~Rx

PS.... What ever happened to those PSX videos that were being made? I'd love to test them out.

Tell me how bad ass this is.... cool.gif

Vids to come shortly. 688 games total.
Boxarts = 654
Title Shots = 686
Action Shots = 687
Carts = 228

If we get all 4 videos there will be 688 videos as well.

EDIT: I've also completed the work for the TG-16, minus the CD games that pCe wants to add. It will probably be a while before a release since there are many more than I would have thought before looking at his spreadsheet. It seems that quite a bit of Japan games are fully playable as far as the CD's are concerned.

I've also gotten quite a few games working at 100% or very damn close on Dosbox.

A small list....

Alone in the Dark
Dark Sun (Both games)
Gateway to the Savage Frontier
Kings Quest IV (with CD music and voices)
Spear of Destiny
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Warcraft
Wolfenstein 3D
X-Com: UFO Defence
Zeliard

Will videos work for Dosbox madmab? I'd love to see some video previews for a favorites list in the future.
bigby
This is all coming together nicely smile.gif

I'll start making those 4 vids too, should be able to post in the next few hours.

Hey pCe,

Thanks for the vids and the name fixes. Everything is adjusted according to the spreadsheets you've been providing. I'm wrapping up artwork and making sure everything is tight on my end. I'll romzip and torrentzip the set too before creating new datfiles. Looking forward to what else you have to offer on this system before we put out a release.

Do you have any Japan boxart? Seems pretty hard to get for this system.

Nevermind. I think I found a good place. I may be missing a few of them when all is said and done though.

EDIT: Would you mind making a video for John Madden Duo CD Football too? The one I have is crappy and bounces all over the place. I'm not sure why it's so bad since the game play is fine when you use the FMV hack.

EDIT2: Which CD games were you going to make videos for that aren't already on my lists?
Hey MM.. Great work on the vids man. I'll take a look at them when I can get to them and then I'll wrap up that system as well (as soon as we get the Game Gear vids from bigby too)
Thanks everyone,
~Rx

Whatever your missing on the boxart stuff let me know and I'll see if I can track it down.

I'll make a video of Madden when I get home from work, are there any others you would like redone?

Alex Kidd - BMX Trial
SG - Othello
Sonic's Edusoft
Walter Payton Football

I couldn't get "Sonic's Edusoft" to run, but I found a "Emulator Compatibilty Hack" from:

http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic's_Edusoft (bottom of the page)

It also works on the xbox!

No such luck with Alex Kid - like you say, it runs but he won't go straight mad.gif

Awesome work guys. I'm back on the work kick for a few days. We'll see how it goes this weekend. Maybe I'll find the time to incorporate those vids and get the release out soon. I've been neglecting some real world things, so I'm not sure if I'll be around or not.

Thanks for everything,

I've remarked in the spreadsheet any I can't find boxart for. Just do a search for boxart in your browser.

I'm not very picky on videos. I know that other people here are much more than I am (and have even taken it upon themselves to make better videos). John Madden is blatently bad though. Whenever I've seen anything that bad I try to point it out. I think when we're finally done with the project it may be a good idea to go back and see which videos we hate and would like to see a replacement for.

Cool man. I've assumed some of those and begun the process of testing and gathering artwork. I'll be ready when you are.

Definitely not a knock there, and you're not the only one madmab. You know I like thorough. Crappy vids will probably drive me nuts down the road (like a lot of the emumovies videos with the characters seeming to hit every enemy's fist they come across with their face). Just trying to get them all done first before going back and fixing the bad ones is my main concern at this point.

laugh.gif

Agreed. Some of them it's obvious the recorder made absolutely NO effort to learn how to play the game. Others (especially on the 2600) are lacking sound or because they are played improperly end up making the game look worse than it is.

Anyways better to get the big stuff out of the way rather than sweating the small stuff!
ressurectionx
My take exactly madmab. Let the kids who find this stuff 5 years from now fill in all the blanks and tweak whatever small stuff we didn't get around to... cool.gif

And here's where I'd like to give a little shout-out to my man Sotu. Dude... when I first got here, I saw all the work you've put into the PSX spreadsheet and that's how I started doing my work here. I even modeled the way I did my initial findings off of your hard work in that thread. A few years later, look where we are now.

Thanks for getting X-COM working man. Hand's down my favorite PSX game of all time. I spent 3 years wishing that thing would work. I was too wrapped up in all the other stuff to ever devote a ton of time to ONE game, but I always had planned to come back to it when I was done here.

It ain't perfect (yet), but now it's much more than playable. I'm going to rip my very own copy of this to a BIN/CUE when I get a chance to see if I can make an image that the music doesn't skip at all with. I'm quite convinced now that the PSX plays much more than I thought it was capable and possibly a lot of the problems we had when we were testing them could have very well just been bad images. (or at least not-perfect images)

Thanks again bro, and Salute! Best development for my own personal enjoyment to come out of the XBox Scene so far.

VIVA XCOM! Indeed cool.gif

Viva Sotu,
~Rx

For anyone who wants to see what an easy fix seemingly eluded everyone's grasp who cared here.....

Core 1.6 everything else standard except, Change graphics fixes to Use PC FPS calculation ON and turn Frameskip OFF.

EDIT: Oh yeah... duh... use the BIN/CUE format.

EDIT 2: Let me just say that I NEVER check my email I use for the spreadsheets, so when, for whatever reason, I looked at it today I was amazed to see how many requests were in there to view some of the spreadsheets that I apparently didn't have open to the public. I can assure you they're all viewable now, although some of you will be disappointed when you open up some of them like the Apple ][e and it's empty.

So my apologies... I wasn't ignoring anyone. Now everyone should have access to view every sheet. I only give editing access to those who have worked real hard on the project and I trust their judgement when making any alterations to my work.

Hey pCe,

Is there anything special you have to do to get the TG-16 Japan CD games working right? I can get them all to play, but the action "stutters" on every one of them. Any ideas? I can't imagine they're bad images since we're talking about 10 games here so far.

Okay..... I'm locking down the NES for Xtras....

If you have any other additions, now would be the time. Once I make the screenshot conversions, it will be 10 times as much work putting the screenshots together, so I only want to do that for the systems as we're sure we're done with them. I figure since we're going to see a public beta of NES in the near future, it's time to officially wrap this one up.

Any more additions before I make the conversion?

So since i already downloaded the pack before and renamed the screenshot game names to my liking am i going to need to redownload this NES pack and all others? did the format change the way you display the screenshots.. I have them like this Game Name/0001/0002/0003 ect ? I think I read somewhere (xport threads) you guys are changing it? blink.gif
ressurectionx
lol

yeah... we changed it up. The old ones should still work for you, but since there has been name changes they might not all work. If you don't have the updated pack or convert the old ones yourself they won't work with some updated display settings either. You'll see what I mean when I release the updated pack.

EDIT: Oh yeah. There's probably been at least 100 games added that you won't have the artwork for if you don't get the new pack too.

EDIT 2: You shouldn't have to rename anything. That's why I set this up the way I did so the movies artwork and roms would all match when you use the datfiles.

In the future, one of the things that will (hopefully) be offered is the ability to show the romname from the synopsis file instead of the zipfile name. This would allow us to display the full game name instead of the 38 character limit.

EDIT 3: FYI, Here's what the NEW file setup will look like...

Rx,
Before my computer went down I was working on getting around 200 HQ boxart images for the nes . It would cover at least all the most popular games.

I also noticed in the pack 2.0 that some box arts were the front and back mashed into one. (i only probably saw it on 2 or 3)

Plus, when you upgraded to the more HQ boxarts some of the images were of boxarts that were in not as good of shape, even though they were higher quality. ( check out "Ghostbusters" from the original pack and now the HQ pack, to see what I am talking about.)

My upgrade should eliminate most of this. If you don't want to wait, or what not, I could always release my extra pack as an upgrade. since with the new system, (i believe) one could just copy over their boxart with the new ones. I will have them all named properly.

I am going to do this for myself anyway, so I figured I might as well just add it to the cause.
smile.gif

These new images will be prefect and after it, you will not be able to find or even make a better collection of boxarts out there. I know... It's a little anal retentive... laugh.gif
ressurectionx
By all means man. I'll wait for that. It would be WAY harder adding them after the fact.

How long do you think this would take you to complete and get to me?

I think bomb bloke is supposed to be writing some type of Java script to rename everything to the new format. I have a command prompt "batch" file/script that I wrote. It works on everything except filename with the "&" symbol in them. I could always make that available as well.

Doing so will allow screenshots AND boxart to be displayed at the same time (rather than in order). You can still use the old screenshots layout but it will be limited (like it is now) to displaying the sceenshots and boxart in the order they exist in the screenshots directory.

It is hard to say..
If I get those off my HDD, onto my temp PC, and get crackin'... I should be able to finish them before the beta release.

But I have been juggling priority's between that, and the NES cheat database. I am up to # - J complete so far and lets just say it is tedious as hell... laugh.gif

I will take a break from that and see how quick I can get the boxarts to you. lucky I have some free time. smile.gif

greatant
I don't suppose there are mirrors for the Xtras? Whenever I try downloading it starts off plenty fast but slows down and drops out before I can get past like 25%

Mega Man (?)
Really...? ohmy.gif
well that is something to look into. Is it just because of megaupload? This is the first I have heard of anything like this.

Any more details or possible solutions? I know we don't want to torrent this stuff until it is complete. But that may be soon for things like the nes, if we are lucky.
greatant
I've managed to resume it. Seems to be working now. Must have been busy or something.
Mega Man (?)
Good to hear greatant.

Hey Rx,
I am going to get the nes HQ boxarts to you sooner than expected. I just went through some motions and I feel that I can get that done within the next few days.

Why couldn't you just proceed to make the new system and then just add the new box arts on top of the old. If they are all in the:
F:/media/NES/Artwork/Box Front/ folder and they are named perfectly, I am not seeing any problems.

If not, I am just going to give you them named accordingly (but not xtras perfectly) and you will do the rest?
just gotta not confuse your marios and Tetris's. tongue.gif I found a great "Tegan Tetris" boxart, by the way.
and maybe a "smb 2 jap", boxart. (I am not sure if this was only for FDS, or nes as well, even though we have the rom for nes too) huh.gif
ressurectionx
It's not as simple as that, unfortunately. I think with our new system it would probably be really hard to write a script to use the new Xtras packs for .CUT files. (I might be wrong about this though).

Assuming this is true, every new game we add (or change) I would have to put in both places manually.

Considering this, just send them to me the old way. When we're sure we're done, I'll make the final (hopefully???) conversion and upload it.

I wouldn't expect this for a few weeks. I really have a lot on my plate coming up in "real" life.

Of course, I'll do my best to get it out there for the public beta cool.gif

UPDATES: Got about 80 more Japan TGCD games added. Most of them have at least some Japanese, but they are some cool little games. Plenty more still to test. Since I've acquired a source for ISO/MP3 versions, it's not that big a deal giving that space up for the images. There was no way I was going to add any of these at 400-600MB a piece though. These are about 25 to 80MB a piece, the same size and format I used for the US games and translations.

Thanks to pCeSlAyEr for making the vids. About 70 have been made so far.

I will continue to work with him to knock out all the Japan games and then we're looking at a TG16 release. Won't be long now....

Anyone who has any suggestions for the TG16/CD outside of the Japan CD games, now's the time to speak up.

Also, I've brainstormed a bit with Madmab, Gilles and BombBloke about this and that. It's all around in here and XPORT's forum if you care to look. I like doing this stuff in the open instead of behind the scenes.

Plenty of cool new stuff coming our way. The public beta has been pushed back a bit, but it will be well worth it.
