GameFAQ work nearly completed. Just a few kinks to work out. For anyone who has tried to use this awesome feature but has thrown your hands up in disgust, here's a sample of what changes have been made. I used Resident Evil III from the PSX as an example. PSX and the GBA emulators were the two who most consistently had problems because of the enormous amount of content for 80% of the games covered.
Here's the OLD version of Resident Evil III's GameFAQ zip (and what you saw scrolling back and forth in the emulator when you opened it):

Weapons-Ammo FAQ.txt
Much cleaner, ain't it?

A few things to note here.....
1. The game name was removed from the beginning of every single faq for every single game (15,568 files, totaling over 1.24 massive GB of text).
2. Identifying numbers for each faq were removed from the end of every file. Ex "(12203)".
3. All files of a "like" kind were numbered from largest file in size to smallest. The only exception to this rule were the few that I found that were written in Spanish. (Unfortunately, there may be more of these placed as number one, so all we can do is rely on people to report this so they can be named as "FAQ-Walkthrough (Spanish) and then "02" can be made the 1st FAQ on the list.
4. All Walkthroughs, Strategy Guides or Move Lists have a "-" put before them to keep them on the top of the list depending on what type of game we're playing. Generally, any game with a storyline and an ending would be considered a "Walkthrough". Any game without those features that weren't fighting games would be a Strategy Guide (EX: Most Atari Games, Sports Games, Game Shows, Board Games). Any game that was a Fighting Game would have Move Lists at the top.
5. All images and cheat codes (for cheat devices like Game Genie) were removed to be added to the VGMaps and code databases at a later time. This is why the second list is shorter than the first in the example above
6. Many games that had walkthroughs based on a specific character or a challenge were listed at the bottom of the walkthroughs, but still named as such.
Examples (From the Resident Evil III example above):
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Carlos Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Knife Walkthrough).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Mikhail Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Nicholai Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Speed Handgun Walkthrough).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Spoiler-Free).txt
Madmab also mentioned that something about faqs with over a 42 character XBox limit don't behave the way he'd like them to in the emu. This should almost completely eliminate that problem. There would only be a probelm with that now if two FAQs for a game had the exact same first 42 characters. I'm pretty sure that this doesn't happen a single time with any game now.
I hope you all enjoy these when they're released and that the awesome GameFAQ feature is more recognized when people can actually see what they're opening.
Later,
~Rx
