Hey MM?,

I think I'm going to start small and just do an arcade controller first since I believe converting an XBox pad to an arcade controller will be the hardest for an electronics novice like me.

Check out my thread about it on emuxtras to see the design I had in mind (yes, to anyone else who's interested, this is most definitely a plug smile.gif)

There's so much sad stuff happening in the world today....

Let us all give a moment of silence for our fallen brothers and sisters in Libya and Japan and New Zealand and Egypt and any other countries who might not be large enough or have enough oil on the line at the moment to beat out Charlie Sheen in the ratings.

Who knows what's really going on anywhere, right? I feel like I'm part of a family that all agreed to chip in evenly for the inevitable, repeated trips to the rehab clinic for the idiot Uncle who always just did whatever he wanted to instead of consoling his family before making one dumb decision after another.

In my own personal reality, I feel truly blessed to have been able to devote so much time to a project so comparatively trivial, but at the same time so meaningful for those who benefit from it.

Though I make it a habit to not watch these things, here's praying for the ongoing sustenance of parts of the world where "American Idol" and "Jersey Shore" and "X-Box (and other platform) Modification" can still bring joy to millions. Long live the parts of the world where a serious decision can be made whether to stay on the controller or start playing by motion detection rather than "should i pack the pistol, or the rifle, or both?"

Good luck world.

We've made a good thing here. Though we exist and act in a world where you can make as much for 1.5 years on unemployment as a Burger King manager makes in a year, it's nice to know that not all of the time this free time has been mindlessly squandered on one's self.

Pay it forward.....

Wise words indeed Rx, and this coming from a person with a passion for gaming. Not at all like the media would have us all portrayed, as mindless zombies intent on destroying whatever is in our path. biggrin.gif

Here's hoping you rekindle your Xtras interest and steer us towards DosBox, Playstation and other Xtras goodies. smile.gif

I still think about the XBox quite a bit, I just can't get into it on that level again, at least for the time being.

I gotta say, at least up until the point I was working on this and had the newest of everything, GREAT WORK everyone.

There's been nothing but compliments about the whole thing from people who have it now that I know personally. For everything they can see without trying, and everything they wanted that already existed but didn't know was there, they've got it all. For many of the classic systems dating from Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis' generation and before, I believe we've got 98% of everything put together.

Now... how it's put together is another story.....

My biggest gripe as one of the people who put this together and gave it pro bono for others to try out, is that many of the features included are completely unknown about unless they are pointed out. Other features included are a great idea as a brainstorm, but could use quite a bit of tweaking before they are used as heavily as imagined.

1. Angry Video Game Nerd videos, along with other extras shouldn't be "Easter Eggs". Somehow it should be made known to users not directly involved in the project AND not responsible for putting the particular Box together with the Xtras should be made aware somehow of their existance. Nobody was even aware of the awesome synopsis feature until I pointed it out to them, and some of them I doubt even remember how to use it or even if it's there.

We should probably get AVGN's approval for use in the future, even though it's after the fact. I would hope he would be honored, to have all of their work on an actual "retro" console, as opposed to the Tube, but who knows? Better safe than sorry, even after the fact, given the amount of time/money that was put into his work.

2. Synopsis Files

In a total dream world, the best of the best for all games would be combined and edited to show all of the relevant information in a uniform way. Probably never going to happen though.

a) As it is, I think that it would benefit everyone if some people got together and put the "Best" GameFaq for each game as the one that shows up on top of the lists (since every one begins with symbols and numbers, this should be easier than it initially sounds).

It would also be REALLY cool if for games covered as in-depth as the Final Fantasy series, that people rename the FAQs for things like Item Stats and Monster Stats and Level Stats and all the other things together in a way that made sense and was easier to use.

cool.gif Remove all of the images from the FAQs and put them in the VGMaps folders, if there deemed worthy of even bothering. FAQ files should be minuscule and very easy to upgrade with updates. The more pictures are involved, the more obese these collections get. Somebody PLEASSSSEEEE get rid of all of these and take the effort to add the good ones to VGMaps collections instead if just throwing them out.

I truly believe that the GameFAQ updates could be done with about 5-10MB for all systems, and even be organized in a zipfile that would unzip every faq over the old ones if you already had them, or could be written with a batch which would delete every Rx compatible FAQ file before making the new ones and unzipping all the files.

3. Skins should be easier to change. Possibly put on the Main Menu.

Most people don't even know that the skins can be changed, but the one or two that figured it out loved the change on systems like NES/SNES/Genesis. I LOVE Gilles' skins, but some people love the idea of a system based theme instead of worrying about the whole thing matching with XBMC like I do. It would be awesome if they could change this with ease in the emulator.

3-b. SOMEBODY PLEASE UPDATE THE GREAT SKINS BY NEVERWILL TO SHOW 2 PICS AND A VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well.... that's about it for now. I know I had other ideas. They'll come to me eventually.

Peace,
~Rx

I haven't been on here in a long time. I was wondering what is the current state of Xtras, and what happened to the emuxreas.net? I have been looking around the forums, but I cant seem to find any relevant information except what RX posted above.

Hi

what happened to emuxtras.net? when I try to enter this appears:

We may have found the hacker through the magic of the internet.

Perhaps this is the hacker. Burger hacker. So call it.

Guess what Rx, MSX Xtras is incoming soon!

Why didn't you tell me it would take this long ?!!! (Oh wait, you told me not to bother with it biggrin.gif )

That's right, MSX Xtras will be released soon. If anyone has more knowledge about MSX (I never actually owned an MSX) take a look at the compatibility spreadsheet in my sig, and let me know which games to add.
ressurectionx
Nice work Bigby. That must have been a bear to get through.

It was on my (surprisingly long) list of XPORT emulated systems that fell into the category of way-too-much-work-for-a-system-I-never-heard-of.

Looking forward to getting it on my rig some day when I get the time to focus on this stuff again. Hope my PC is still all ready to get 'er done. You'd be surprised how quickly you can forget how to do all of this stuff when you walk away from it completely for 8 months.

Yep.... you've been working on MSX for at least 8 months man. Wow!

Great job. Really impressive knocking out such a huge system that barely anybody would put that much effort into.

Salut!

Yanno..... I still wonder where people get off taking a project that was my baby for 3 years in public and another year and a half before making it public and go and change the name on me 2 months after I stop working on it.......

ressurectionx
Systems with cleaned up FAQs as of 07-10-11:

A2600
A7800
ADAM
ATARI800
GENESIS
LYNX
NES
NGPC
ODYSSEY2
PCE
SMSGG
SNES
VIRTUALBOY
WONDERSWAN

Systems remaining:

GBA (1,034 games)
PSX (302 games - Only the titles that were included in the Xtras release)

Got all of those done in about a day and a half...... 6,976 files in 3,097 folders remain after removing maps and cheat code unit docs. All files have cleaned names and I used Bulk Renamer to make sure that the document names are the same for similar docs across all platforms. Doc names have evolved a bit beyond what I was talking about earlier in the conversation. You'll see them when I upload the complete sets.

They look AWESOME in the Madmab emus now!

I will need somebody to volunteer to integrate the maps and codes that were removed from the FAQs into the existing VGMaps and the cheat code databases.

~Rx
ressurectionx
When I finally get these done I'll eventually get around to uploading them to the public. Even though they'll be part of EmuXtras packs which are just my teams packs with some changes and fixes built on top of them.
ressurectionx
Well.... My weekend is over....

I'll see when I can get back to this project.

Got everything done but the 302 PSX games and about 4/5ths of the GB/GBC/GBA library on the GameFAQs.

Hope that reminds people of who got the job done when the boss was still around here, and why these packs were called "RessurectionXtras". smile.gif

I'll let it out into the wild when I get around to finishing the rest of it. Unfortunately the Gameboy FAQs total 2/3rds of the amount of files I did for every other system combined, so it may take another free full day or two in my future to finish it.

Later,

You can join them at emuxtras.net and I'm sure somebody will fill you in. Plenty of betrayers there, and lots of people around there hate me these days just like you did while I was around here Likkle...

It's funny how much BP from 1emu gets ripped on in the VIP forums over there yet they conveniently forget that they're guilty of doing the exact same thing that they constantly accuse him of. (See: thread "Borg Ops")

When did I ever say I hated you? ohmy.gif

Your project never made any sense to me and still doesn't, but you were always fun enough to talk to and argue with. In any case, if you did get shafted I'm sorry to hear it. Too much of that going on in the scene nowadays.
madmab
Well I'm not gonna say much for now. But people oughta seriously consider hearing both sides of the story before making any decisions. At this point I dont really give a shit. But maybe when I do I'll give a proper response.

Suffice it to say someone seems determined to burn the one last bridge the have left since he burned all the other ones a long time ago.. Shame shame..
gilles9999
Hi Rx,
You're not alone and i've been banned too from the chan many time lol
In fact no one have ever been banished, it's simply related to mibbit (i assume you are connecting with mibbit right?), mibbit OFTEN disconnect and write "ban from the chan" when too many failure to connect, simply restart your pc and it will do the trick, you'll be connected...
Also, there's always major actors to the continuing project (especially retrogamers fans like Waal, megamanQ,me, bigby,cbagy,neil22,madmab of course ,franckmorris, neobomb etc...)
And... as far as i know, you are always credited in the intro screen of each madmab emus (ressurectionXtras compatible)
Concerning you Likklebaer, you can say anything about us and our "s%*§ty"project, it doesn't matter really from someone like you, We, at least we are trying to improve the emulation experience on the original xbox, and instead support with the few remaining actors, you are insulting us, it's just improductive and you are really a person without any interest here
ressurectionx
What bridge Madmab?

A bridge to a project that is no longer mine and was rebranded two months after I left it?

A bridge to a site that deletes my posts and censors my feelings on this matter?

I had my project going on here for years, finally wrapped it all up to a point where I was happy enough with it to put it on xboxes I made for my friends and family, and then I spent another month or two making sure that everything was situated perfectly on wimpy's server so it would live on in a way that people would be able to work together and make changes to it in a fashion we were never able to imagine before.

Yes indeed, it seemed like the RessurectionXtras would live on for many years to come.

I was proud.

But then.....

For all of my hard work.... for all of the 8-10 hour days grinding out menial tasks and doing the same thing over and over and over and over again.... for all the lost weekends and nights of my free time without expecting any monetary gain.... what do I get?

A big slap in the face, that's what!

Wait until I'm gone and rebrand the entire project.

I'd pretty much moved on and started doing other things in my life and tried not to let it get the best of me. Shame on me for spending a few idol days working to tweak an aspect of the project I felt was in dire need of revamping. I guess when you go back to doing 8 hours of mindless work it can start drudging up feelings about how the thousands of hours I'd put in previously went completely unappreciated by those who currently house the project under their new name.

If that bridge is burned because people don't like that I'm airing my grievances here where I know the post won't be censored, so be it.

Good riddance...

It's just a shame that you're on the other side of this Madmab. Aside from you I have no bad feelings to anyone who I worked on this project with, and I appreciate all the time and effort that you and the others contributed to it when it was still my project. My only beef is with those in charge at emuxtras and what they did to me.

Yanno..... I still wonder where people get off taking a project that was my baby for 3 years in public and another year and a half before making it public and go and change the name on me 2 months after I stop working on it.......
I'm only gonna quote the one msg cause most of the rest was a bit redunant. But RX you really oughta consider not posting when you are drunk. And I'm assuming that is what you were considering the slurred comments you made in the channel when you were present. And I really hate to have to set the record straight in the public like this. But since you decided to make it public, then so be it.

01) After releasing the project you said you were done with it and were handing over the keys so to speak. So where this "thief" stuff comes from is beyond me.

02) The name change occured approxamitely 9 months after the initial release of the Xtras, not two months.

03) The Dosxbox Xtras do not count as work because it was someone elses project until you decided to step in and take it over with no respect or regard to the people involved. We tried to adjust to that but you kept on pushing the issue.

04) The name change was decided about 2-3 months after you being gone ( nearly 12 if we dont count the dosxbox fiasco).

05) The name change occured for two reasons. First to make it shorter and easier to remember. Second to reflect our intention of it being useable on other platforms.

06) There was no intention to remove your name. That is what credits are for. However keep in mind that although you put a majority of it together it was based on other peoples work and that other people did participate in putting it together.

07) So far any Xtras that were worked on after your supposed departure ( amiga, msx, Spectrum, and dosxbox) were all started without your involvement. The original Xtras up to this point have been left intact.

08) Of course any future "remaking" of current Xtras are gonna be based of your work. Wasnt that the original intent? How quickly we forget!

09) You need to realize that the Xtras are now a team effort and if we want the project to be able move forward it needs to be that way. There is no "I" in team. Slagging off team members is not the way to go and I think that is something that you need to learn.

10) I know you have some personal issues that are affecting your public behaviour. If you chose to make that public, it is your business. We have tried to be patient in understanding this, but we can only accomodate this kind of behaviour for so long.

11) I was really beginning to think that you were beginning to understand the team oriented direction we were trying to move the project in when you redid the FAQS. But apparently you seem to be determined to make it a one man show.

12) We are trying to push the project forward. Not hold it back with a one man show. We made decisions based on what we felt was best for the project itself and not ONE man's ego. We can't help it if you disappeared for months on end.
ressurectionx
Okay... Now we're getting somewhere.

I never said anything about this in my thread here before, but more than one post of mine has been deleted or edited at the other site in the last week or two... not just the one you keep mentioning. So... I felt that I should post about it here where I know the people doing that don't have the ability to censor my posts. Wow... imagine that.... There's actually a discussion taking place when the posts don't mysteriously disappear.

I posted the comment you quoted 5:40PM. I may have been hopped up a bit on caffine still, but it was well before i had started drinking. Yes, however, you are correct in assuming I was pretty blasted when I made my appearance in the forum. I don't even remember what I posted in there, but I'm sure it wasn't good and I'd probably be ashamed whatever was said now that I am sober. The comment above, however, I do not regret and I feel that it is the absolute truth of the matter.

Up until that point it seemed that any mention of the name change at all was getting deleted when I posted about it on the other site, and then when I go in the IRC chat nobody wants to talk to me there either and then I mysteriously get banned from there shortly afterward. None of my posts in the other forum contained swear words or were inflammatory in any way, other than the people in charge now don't want to hear about how the project shouldn't have changed names anymore.

So...... Let's go over your comments

01) After releasing the project you said you were done with it and were handing over the keys so to speak. So where this "thief" stuff comes from is beyond me.

Kind of hard to steal the information that I was willingly supplying the thieves with, huh? I made it even easier for the thieves by loading it directly into their house (server) instead of making them go to the warehouse (torrent site) to get it first. I then even did all of the interior decorating before I left.

No.... the thievery came with the name change, well after the fact.

02) The name change occured approxamitely 9 months after the initial release of the Xtras, not two months.

I don't really know how to respond to that one. I guess there's a statute of limitations on these things. Oh, it was nine months you say? That's perfectly legitimate then. If it was only two months it would be an entirely different matter.

03) The Dosxbox Xtras do not count as work because it was someone elses project until you decided to step in and take it over with no respect or regard to the people involved. We tried to adjust to that but you kept on pushing the issue.

Yes, let's not forget the Dosxbox fiasco. The TRUE reason for the name change in the first place. The time when I stepped just a little too hard on your toes and saw you get mad for the first time ever.

I really felt bad about that immediately after I realized what I had done, but I knew you didn't want to talk to me to hear any apologies at the time. I figured I'd back off and let you cool off a bit when you'd accept an apology rather than piss you off further.

Unfortunately, that time never came because it wasn't very long after this incident that you guys decided in the middle of the night to change the name on me.

04) The name change was decided about 2-3 months after you being gone ( nearly 12 if we dont count the dosxbox fiasco).

Again... Time is pretty meaningless to me on this issue. If my time frame in my mind is out of wack with reality, I still fail to see how it has any bearing on what the end result of all of this was.

05) The name change occured for two reasons. First to make it shorter and easier to remember. Second to reflect our intention of it being useable on other platforms.

I don't believe this for a second.

The name change occured because I pissed you and Guybird off and made some comments that offended others who make the decisions now. Also it had to do with my admitted idiocy and sabotage of our awesome torrents at UG. Guybird even told me that you guys changed the name because you wanted to distance yourself from people at other sites I've offended like HyperSpin and UG.

HyperSpin did get over 200GB of megaupload links removed for a small 100MB collection of boxart, and UG did completely trash all of my work getting those torrents up, but I should have handled it all better. Yes.... I should have just kept my mouth shut when they deleted the PSX torrent, and maybe all of the other ones would remain to this day. Maybe this would still be called the RessurectionXtras today if I had.

06) There was no intention to remove your name. That is what credits are for. However keep in mind that although you put a majority of it together it was based on other peoples work and that other people did participate in putting it together.

Credits are on the ass end. Who watches the credits of a movie? That's when everyone starts leaving the theater. This project, and the 15 or 20 so systems I completed from start to finish are RessurectionXtras, not EmuXtras. Even when version 1.5 comes out, so little will have been done to them compared to what was done while I was helming the project that even thinking of calling them "EmuXtras 1.5" upon release would be both insulting and infuriating.

First thing I see is the new forum, and the second thing I see is wimpy's online synopsis database with EMUXTRAS in a huge pretty banner, with no mention of the RessurectionXtras anywhere. Since then, the synopsis has had my name put back up above the work, but the old awesome banner is gone. It's just a drab, lifeless blue-gray page with "RessurectionXtras and other Projects" in white letters.

I requested that the EmuXtras banner even be put back up on the synopsis. Just make a window placed beneath it to display team banners depending on which system you're searching. That way, anytime you're going through one of the ones my team did, it shows the RessurectionXtras banner Gilles made. If you're searching through a new system we didn't cover, it would display the other team.

I don't want people calling my projects EmuXtras. They're not, nor have they ever been EmuXtras. But looking on the new site to this day, you'd never be able to tell that if you were new on the scene.

07) So far any Xtras that were worked on after your supposed departure ( amiga, msx, Spectrum, and dosxbox) were all started without your involvement. The original Xtras up to this point have been left intact.

Yes, as I mentioned above, I realize that there will be new systems worked on. These can be called whatever you want them to be called. If the "Team Banner" suggestion had been implemented in the last 4 months, the recent tirade I've been on would have largely been avoided. I still wouldn't be happy with what has gone on, but it would have been at least a nice gesture of good faith

08) Of course any future "remaking" of curWrent Xtras are gonna be based of your work. Wasnt that the original intent? How quickly we forget!

That sentence doesn't even really mean anything to me. Of course they're going to be based off of my work since they're complete and aside from a few (admittedly large) issues, they're kinda hard to add to. What does "being based off of my work" mean if it no longer carries the name?

09) You need to realize that the Xtras are now a team effort and if we want the project to be able move forward it needs to be that way. There is no "I" in team. Slagging off team members is not the way to go and I think that is something that you need to learn.

I have no interest in getting back anywhere near as deep into the project as I have before, and after the Dosbox thing, I'd hesitate to even work closely with anyone in the project again. It's better for me to do things on my own like fix the gamefaqs files, or tackle a completely new system like Wall and Bigby have done.

I have no interest in being in charge again of such a huge, never-ending and ultimately unfulfilling endeavor either. I wouldn't wish that lone responsibility on any one person after having lived it for 3 years.

Go on... do your team thing. Nobody's stoppin' ya. cool.gif

10) I know you have some personal issues that are affecting your public behaviour. If you chose to make that public, it is your business. We have tried to be patient in understanding this, but we can only accomodate this kind of behaviour for so long.

Yeah, and they're not getting any better either. My family issues, or more accurately, my family's issues are so over the top insane it makes the drama in 1emu look like a game of flag football by comparison.

It makes this all the more sad that I can't even enjoy getting away from all of that for one single weekend to do some mindless work and contribute to the project, because all that sitting here and working on the project does for me now is piss me off more every hour I'm sitting here and I start seething about how I got screwed by the new collective.

I guess all I can say is thanks to everyone involved for taking this form of meditation away from me. It no longer fits me.

11) I was really beginning to think that you were beginning to understand the team oriented direction we were trying to move the project in when you redid the FAQS. But apparently you seem to be determined to make it a one man show.

Like I said. I have no problem with the team orientation. I don't want to bark orders. I don't want to be in charge of anything. I'd just like to work on smaller things that don't require too much brain power that I can just zone out on for a few days. This name change thing has just sapped any joy I once got out of this work.

12) We are trying to push the project forward. Not hold it back with a one man show. We made decisions based on what we felt was best for the project itself and not ONE man's ego. We can't help it if you disappeared for months on end.

Well madmab. Sorry I couldn't continue to do this work as a full time job with overtime with no pay forever. I guess I should have if the RessurectionXtras name really meant anything to me. I thought the very worst thing that would happen would be that people would lose interest and it would end up dying off.

Little did I know that it could be much, much worse than that, and people who I thought were in a way my friends would group together and all touch a part of the knife that to this day I apparently haven't been able to pull out of my back.

Sorry I'm not over it..... I tried, but apparently it just isn't going to happen.

The name change was wrong. I don't see how I can ever truly look at everyone here who had any involvement in it as anything akin to a friend.

I shouldn't expect much from people online I'll likely never meet in person, but over the years of working with you all I'd become accustomed to it. That's what made this all so hard for me. I don't think anyone in the real world had ever hurt my feelings the way you guys did when you changed the name.

sad.gif

I don't know the rights or wrongs with everything mentioned here, but to drag this out into the open isn't the way at all.

I was not in the IRC channel at the time and would have spoken to you if you were. The nature of IRC is that people are not always at that desks.

You could have started a thread at the "other" site, and people could have responded to your grievances when they had time to do so.

As you know, I respect the work you have put into the Xtras and I kinda have an understanding of what it takes to put together. (Having beeen working on MSX Xtras for some time now smile.gif )

I just feel that airing this to the public makes fools of us all and I'm sure a particular person will find this all hilarious tongue.gif

Edit: Just looked at the "other" sites logs and as far as I can tell, on the 6th July a post was deleted of yours. This was entirely by mistake as I understand it. I see no other posts of yours deleted in the last few weeks.

Rx it doesn't sound like you've got a leg to stand on here. You left a project with the intention of it being continued by other people and then complain when they change the name to reflect the fact that it's a team effort and not just the work of one person. huh.gif

What's the big deal with the name anyway? If you're no longer active in the scene and I'm guessing you weren't named ressurectionx at birth then what does it matter that the project bears that name? It just doesn't mean anything to anyone who doesn't already know who you are. EmuXtras is a far more functional name.

Tbh, I remember thinking back when you were active that this project was primarily an ego trip for you and you seemed to think at the time that your name belonged up there with XPort and nes6502. Well it definitely doesn't. It's a pity you didn't spend those years and sleepless nights learning how to code.
cbagy
Do you know, through this latest upset i am shocked.
All this you did this and you stole that, backstabbing, it's mine it's mine etc
I see no mention once of the hard working guy's who i know helped you actually put it all together.
In some cases actually creating the media or converting docs, creating other important stuff,
rumbles, synopsis, skins, video's, etc etc. Now you know who they are, we all do.
I've read you accusing the emuXtras guy's of all sorts, let's set this straight, majority of the emuXtras contributers are your friends, ones you've worked with in the past.
I feel sorry for these guys, you didn't even mention them or use them as weight in your argument !
And you wonder why the name was changed ?

I know you can be a big man RX, one of the things i respect about you, so appologise to those you never mentioned and credit them too.

Then forget about it all and come show the newbies how to do Xtras.

GameFAQ work nearly completed. Just a few kinks to work out. For anyone who has tried to use this awesome feature but has thrown your hands up in disgust, here's a sample of what changes have been made. I used Resident Evil III from the PSX as an example. PSX and the GBA emulators were the two who most consistently had problems because of the enormous amount of content for 80% of the games covered.

Here's the OLD version of Resident Evil III's GameFAQ zip (and what you saw scrolling back and forth in the emulator when you opened it):

Much cleaner, ain't it? smile.gif

A few things to note here.....

1. The game name was removed from the beginning of every single faq for every single game (15,568 files, totaling over 1.24 massive GB of text).

2. Identifying numbers for each faq were removed from the end of every file. Ex "(12203)".

3. All files of a "like" kind were numbered from largest file in size to smallest. The only exception to this rule were the few that I found that were written in Spanish. (Unfortunately, there may be more of these placed as number one, so all we can do is rely on people to report this so they can be named as "FAQ-Walkthrough (Spanish) and then "02" can be made the 1st FAQ on the list.

4. All Walkthroughs, Strategy Guides or Move Lists have a "-" put before them to keep them on the top of the list depending on what type of game we're playing. Generally, any game with a storyline and an ending would be considered a "Walkthrough". Any game without those features that weren't fighting games would be a Strategy Guide (EX: Most Atari Games, Sports Games, Game Shows, Board Games). Any game that was a Fighting Game would have Move Lists at the top.

5. All images and cheat codes (for cheat devices like Game Genie) were removed to be added to the VGMaps and code databases at a later time. This is why the second list is shorter than the first in the example above

6. Many games that had walkthroughs based on a specific character or a challenge were listed at the bottom of the walkthroughs, but still named as such.

Examples (From the Resident Evil III example above):

- FAQ-Walkthrough (Carlos Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Knife Walkthrough).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Mikhail Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Nicholai Survival Guide).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Speed Handgun Walkthrough).txt
- FAQ-Walkthrough (Spoiler-Free).txt

Madmab also mentioned that something about faqs with over a 42 character XBox limit don't behave the way he'd like them to in the emu. This should almost completely eliminate that problem. There would only be a probelm with that now if two FAQs for a game had the exact same first 42 characters. I'm pretty sure that this doesn't happen a single time with any game now.

I hope you all enjoy these when they're released and that the awesome GameFAQ feature is more recognized when people can actually see what they're opening.

Later,

Seriously RX if that is the case you really should consider getting help and preferably not from a family member (considering your current relations) or even someone on the internet that you do not know personally. Maybe a close friend or even a professional.

Hey all, and particularly MM and his post.....

Things just got bad last night, that's all. I got way out of hand, and although I touch up posts before I send them and rarely have typos or grammatical errors, that obsession of mine only served last night to hide the fact that I was three sheets to the wind before I finally called it a night. This is in no way an excuse for my behavior, but I hope people realize that it is in some way a mitigating circumstance and that they can forgive me for my behavior.

What happened last night is exactly the reason I wanted Cbagy and Bigby to do my lobbying for me.... I know very well the depths I'm capable of going when things aren't going my way and when I start feeling ganged up on I know how I can react like a rat trapped in a corner.

It's great that you guys all are moving forward and continuing to make everything better. Some of the changes I've heard about (not at all regarding the name change) I don't agree with at all, but I was the one that handed you all the keys to the car and let you drive it. I no longer run the show and the truth is that 99% of the time I'm so happy to not be wearing that crown anymore. This project sucked many years out of my life.... many more even than I actually spent on it.

Since I've left the project, I've lost 40 to 45 lbs and I can actually see lines of the six pack I used to be so proud of before I stated this project and drinking heavily to dull my senses to make it through the million mundane tasks I performed to make it what it was. I'm just so happy to see that it is still there and it was always there under the beer fat all this time. smile.gif

I've also just put in a bid on the house that I truly believe is the house for me. I've been looking for a house since the middle of December and nothing has turned out yet. My mom, who recently has become VERY religious, always told me that "everything happens for a reason" when something didn't work out before. I always told her "yeah, whatever", but if this one goes through than everything she was saying was right.

It has some water damage in the finished basement after the bank turned off the power during the horrible rains the mideast has been getting, and it needs some TLC, but this house was sold for 150k in 2005 and I'm looking at possibly getting it for just over 60k cash.

Things outside of here really have never looked so up for me. It truly saddens me that I let this all get the best of me like this and that I show my RXteam friends and anyone else who's watching just how manipulative and vindictive I can be, especially when I am drunk.

Yes, I will always be hurt by the name change, and yes, even though I do understand the benefits to it I don't think I''ll ever fully get over it..... but it is what it is. Apparently there is no appealing the issue. There has to be some sort of compromise... a happy medium, if you will. I'll never be a part of the project like I was before, but I'd like to help out on occasion with some major updates like the GameFAQs release I gave to the other site when I can get some time to spend a week here or there to do them. If you can't grant me any other praise, you gotta admit that I can get a shit ton done in a week when I set my mind to it.... especially any of you who have checked out the download I provided.

I love you guys.... all of you. Though a ton of the work had been done before I even brought it public years ago, I did so because I knew I'd be at least 40 by the time I was done with the work if I did it on my own. You guys made sure we got it to where I wanted when I was only 31. Now that that is done and I may own a house without a mortgage before my 32nd birthday, I'm overall a pretty content guy.

Many apologies for taking my bullshit out on all of you, and in such a melodramatic way.....

Have no fear, I have no "tenancies" above and beyond those that nearly every one of us has ever felt at one time or another in my life. Last night was simply Mr. Hyde speaking for me and trying to manipulate sympathy from you. It was just another of my tantrums in a different form.

I love life. I'm good at it.... and I'm getting better everyday. cool.gif

Long live the Xtras.... whatever prefix is attached to them.

Love you all,
~Rx
Mega Man (?)
Dear Rx
I am sorry you have felt the way you do... though, I partially feel that you have miss-conceptualized the whole situation...

We use to be as close as you could be on these forums .
You know I consider you a good friend, and we have done some great work together!

We would use talk a bunch in PM's...
You would always say things like:

"I wish I had 10 guys like you MMQ"
"I should probably put you name somewhere on the project."
"You do so much around here... I some times wonder if you do more than me, at times"

Though, none of this may have been true as a whole (currently looking at things).....
I do know that I "too" did put a lot into the project.

I never wanted some grand recognition or fame from any of this.....
I was happy to contribute to the working machine we had and it was fun!

All I really wanted was to further the boundaries to what our project was and to do so in the likes of the community.

As far as public recognition... I never needed much, Of course thanks/ credit in readmes are nice, but....
Where it truly had barring (for me), was just the fun and synergy we had as a team....
...and also, to know that my fellow team members knew and apprenticed what I an all of us had contributed in the process....
Because after all, (as you actually mentioned) only "we" know the true mass of work that was put into this....

Now that I have said this (and given that fact)... I must admit something....

When Xtras 1.0 came out.... You made a "thank you" list ...
I know you tried your best to thank/ credit everyone (after the fact) in that list, But....

When it came to me in that list... it said....
"Thanks to MM? and Cbagy for some videos."

Now this might seem pathetic for me to complain about, to the public... but...
Between you and I... I strongly feel that my credit and personal recognition from you was grossly underrated. (publicly at least) sleep.gif

I know, that many people helped and you did the bulk... so that is why you justify putting your "name" on the project....
This would actually all be true to all the people who helped.... IF it was not for ME and a few others who helped a GREAT deal over those who did a few things here and there.... sleep.gif

Must, I list ever thing that I have done, and constantly shove at people my contributions?
That has just never been my style... but in any case I feel you should know.

This is why for me, I must stick by the name change, and I feel you deserve to know my whole feelings on the matter.

Although... as you know... I could always stand by and do things at peoples bidding... but that is no longer fair to anyone on the project and the work we are doing...

I know that my kind of attitude made it easy between you and I... but the fact that you put so much into the "title" of the project being "your" name disturbs me and lead me to believe that you truly "do" have a lack of appreciation for what "I" and others actually did. sleep.gif

If I were to be trite.. .I would say something like "This project would have never "finished" to this point without me" tongue.gif
But that is not necessary...

Note: I am not trying to say I did , as much work as you did....
I even tried to mention all this to you after 1.0 came out, in your "need help with thank yous" thread....but you either did not see it, or ignored... it... and then I just figured it was not worth the fuss. sleep.gif

.........................................

As for the future of the project: We are going one system at a time. and believe me, there are enough things that are changing to be an entirely different project in it's self.
Xtras this or that just means exactly what it says:

As for the web site: We are extremely lucky to have it:
This was not made by you, or I.. but it did give us the ideal place to host anything we have there.
This site hosts much more than just the Xtras too.
To feel that they would need to name their site after you, is not just. (it's all our web site, if you let it be)
The site goes beyond RessurectionXtras..
Plus... where would our project (and please forgive me if I say "our") be if it was not there....?
I am very appreciative of all the guys who made it and put together the best damn Xbox collective since "this" site. cool.gif

As for the IRC channe l#RessurectionXtras , no one had an "obligation" to keep it going but you...
To this day, if anyone wants, they can go to #RessurectionXtras
Our support went beyond this, so we decided to change to reflect the encompassing web site.
And it kinda just happened in your absence .

........

I know publicly, this may not be the best place to say anything... but given the recent passing... I want to go by your old rules and just put it in the open, regardless of reactions.

You know, no matter what, you have a big part in this...
And we all respect/ and love your contributions/time here, a great deal!!!

I am still very proud or the the RessurectionsXtras!

I could probably say more, but I have already said alot and My mind is all fussy now, trying to organize it all.

So I will leave it with this quote:
" Oh no, I've said too much... I haven't said enough" ~REM

Live long and prosper my friend! -MM?
