screen shots none

go in your files folder and open both roms folder and the videos one, go down the list and see if your roms
match the videos exactly. (minus the file extension)
then I guess you can do what you said.

well they dont i thought your date was suppose to do that
but why are the games freezing
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 01:37 AM
yes, the dat will,
You said before that the dat was all good. I don't know about the game freeze thing yet, but you must go back to the dat.
did you export all the renamed files and those are the ones you are using on your box. They were all zipped and showed all green right, some of them may have been yellow, those were the ones that would be renamed after you high light them all and select fix game.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 01:44 AM
yea i did that but i noticed somthing and i think its the problem when i used the export thing after i fixed them it unzipped them and no i dont ahve zipped verions any more is there a way to rezip them all real fast
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 01:51 AM
OK
I think that is a big part of the problem. I don't know why they would unzip
You have too move the roms back to your computer, zip them up, and use romcenter again to check and see if the files are all ok.
You can highlight all the roms and right click "add to arcive".
on the 3rd tab, check the box that says "put in separate folder".
This should put all your zipped roms in their own folders again.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 02:09 AM
ok got them zipped but im having a renaming problem still
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 02:15 AM
Tell me what you are doing and what is happening.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 02:30 AM
basically i deleted the roms i had and i still had the orginal download and im rextracting them and then zipping then running them through rom center and if that dont work im going to cry lol been at this all day
what are your setting in romcenter prefrences or what ever make sure i get this right this time lol
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 02:40 AM
make sure they are .zip files and not .rar
I just double checked the process my self in a couple of different ways and it worked fine.
load rom center and I'll try to walk you trough it. You can do it man
get to rom center, load the dat, and then load your rom folder. make sure all your green yellow, red and gray tabs on the left side are pushed down.
select your second option where it shows the actual roms you have (and not just the dat list)
You should see all your roms with some green files and some yellow ones. let me know when you get this far.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 02:42 AM
trying to zip 11000+ roms right now lol might be a few
omg it says its going to take 1hour and 30 mins...............
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 02:49 AM
I would stop that, load your unziped roms in romcenter,
from there, highlight the main set and move it somewhere else, then zip this new much smaller set and load to rom center again.
it should only take a fraction of the time to zip. and you should end up with your 768 set anyway
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 02:53 AM
ok load them and let rom center go through them correct im right were you told me to be
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 02:58 AM
right click, on the list, "selection" - select main sets
It should high light all the good stuff,
then, right click on the highlighted stuff, shell operations, move or copy files, (what ever you want) put them where you want and then close that huge rom path,
open your new rom path, it should have about 768 on the list.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 03:04 AM
i got 767 but i think the missing rom is nightmare bustre i have to go get it real fast should i zip them real fast the 767?
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 03:05 AM
yes,
and yes it is nightmare busters.
Good, you are on the right path.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 03:11 AM
now i have 768 roms zipped
i open the rompath and highlight all the game and click fix games right
and there all yellow i guess thats good havnt clicked fix waiting for your reply
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 03:19 AM
They shouldn't, all be yellow, I don't think,
is both green tabs down?
try to select one first, than use the fix game option. you see file name and then game name next to each other.
try one and see if they match.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 03:22 AM
well i done three fix and fixed there names and they turned green do the rest? even fixed the game i tested earlier that wouldn't change its name so go ahead and do the rest
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 03:24 AM
Yes
but make sure the FILE NAME and GAME NAME are matching perfectly .EDIT: OK, yes the files should have all been yellow at first.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 03:30 AM
ok you mean after i hit fix game go make sure it make sure that game matches with the the file name in the folder were the roms are right or break it down for me sorry im a noob when it comes to using romcenter i tried using it like a year ago and i corrupted my roms or somehow
edit: nvm i see were your talking about
so after i fix them send them to the xbox correct and try to load them up
Mega Man (?)
Nov 7 2008, 03:34 AM
send them,
make sure the ones you had on the xbox before are gone.
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 03:37 AM
ok im grabbing the translating ones also before i send ill reply back here in a sec when im done thank god the videos are already on there

QUOTE(ressurectionx @ Nov 6 2008, 07:01 PM)

I know I messed with them a bit years ago, but the game names were so damn long on some of those systems and a bunch of them have (1 of 4) at the end and stuff so it was a pain gettting them within the 42 character limit.
What is this gamebase you talk about? If it doesn't have roms at the site, could you post a link?
Which systems have you made videos for?
The GoodMSX1 and 2 sets as well as the offline list for MSX do a decent job of covering the good stuff.
I had a decent set of amstrad stuff a few years ago but lost it somewhere along the way. Anyways when I was going thru it setting up games was not so difficult.
I got the C64 gamebase discs (2 of them, 1st DVD, 2nd regular CD) from a newsgroup. But chances are there is a torrent out there somewhere. I can up the x-port format screenies if you need them. You could always check the gamebase64 site and see if they provide torrents or not. It's been a while since I visited there. I think it is something like gb64.com.
The videos I was referring to where my atari 5200/8-bit videos I made a few years ago because I didn't like the emumovies ones. I went thru them today to see if they were "worthy" or not.

Hey madmab,
Most of that GB64 seems a bit over my head and too much to learn since I'm not really that interested. I may take time to do this some time in the future, but I'd need somebody to tell me just about how many games we're actually talking here and what would be the easiest way for me group them all together for testing. That seems like a very daunting task.
I might take a look at the GoodMSX stuff, or even better a no-intro set. That doesn't seem to be as difficult, but still a very large task. I'm betting that I won't be able to find any boxart/cartart for them and finding full title and action shots will probably be a chore too. I don't imagine there are any videos to be found for it anywhere.
Glad you're taking some time on the XLbox.... I took a look at the spreadsheet and it looks like you're going to replace most of the emumovies videos. Keep me updated on that.
Later,
~Rx
Hay Nate,
When I get back to my gameboy testing I'll be sure to check out that site. I do the artwork as I go when I'm testing games. I just did Master System yesterday and I already had 90% of the stuff that I needed.
Glad you got your problems fixed. MM sure did a lot to help you out. Wish I had that kind of patience.
Sorry... I don't know a thing about Mugen. I'm sure there is a forum around here where somebody talks about it though.

I remember when I was searching for MSX boxart I didn't find much and alot of it was pretty bad scans as well. I thought you were referring to personal use as opposed to the full fledged RessurectionXtras treatment.
Gamebase is pretty self sustainiing but I suppose if you were considering the RessurectionXtra treatment you could stick to the Goodsets and no-intro (if they have one). I only recommended the gamebase because it has default set-ups for most every game. Saves alot of time.
I was thinking of possibly doing some intro videos simply because non existed. I like doing stuff like that for the underdogs...

But it would be far down the road. Just the colecovision videos alone are taking a bit of time. (Don't worry it isn't really eating into my coding time). Videos are just easier to do when there are other distractions around (family. lol ).

Nov 7 2008, 11:22 AM
I probably wouldn't mess with it unless I was going to go balls out on it. In the end, either I'll have a full set of the systems or they will just be removed from my Box and (hopefully) forgotten about.
I don't understand how pre-configurations at gamebase will work with the XBox and the XPORT emus. Do you mean that if I play it, I should do it on my computer instead?
madmab
Nov 7 2008, 11:41 AM
The gamebase database contains data that the emu can use to determine how to play the game. For example. Which controller is used, what port it is plugged in, whether it is a disk, cart or tape. Full or high speed disk read speed. Etc. So it pretty much (like my atarixlbox autoconfig's) negates the need to try configuring a game different ways in order to play them.
ressurectionx
Nov 7 2008, 11:52 AM
And somehow this can be used on the XBox?
madmab
Nov 7 2008, 04:19 PM
X-port programmed the C64 emu so that it can take advantage of a gamebase setup. It adds an option to the main menu that lets you browse thru the gamebase database. By game name, genre, publisher. It may even provide synopsis style information now that I think about it. Plus it can play SID music associated with the game if you have the right files on your xbox.
It's actually pretty nice. I came very close to implementing it into atarixlbox but there does not exist any decent gamebase for the atari systems. Plus it would take me a real long time to create one myself. Although I did start on one, albeit briefly.
ressurectionx
Nov 7 2008, 04:48 PM
Do you have a link to instructions or information about that for the C64?
nate1579
Nov 7 2008, 06:11 PM
right now im downloading the snes manuals
and virtual boy artwork but one link form both of them say temporary unavailable so i will have to wait how would use the videos and artwork for the virtual boy emulator?
ressurectionx
Nov 8 2008, 12:06 AM
Hey Nate,
I put all my work up for the Virtual Boy already, but there isn't currently an emulator that supports video previews for it yet. Right now there is only 4 emulators that support video previews. They are the ZSNESXBox, Genesis, LYNX and NES.
The Virtual Boy doesn't really play very well anyways, so you're not really missing a whole lot.
I'll have to check out the links. I hope megaupload isn't dumping my work. I was afraid that might happen at some point. Maybe it's not getting enough action so they deleted them.

any estimate when the Sega genesis will be done and the nes
will they work like snes
just curious i found alot of games i use to play when i was kid but couldn't remember the name the videos helped so much

Nov 8 2008, 02:08 AM
No clue man. Just doing this in my spare time with others. I'll release the videos and artwork when people have helped me finish a complete set. If you want to help us make videos it would go faster
It work similar, but all of the XPORT emus have a different setup. You'll have to put the artwork in the E:\Screenshots directory for they system you're using. The videos will go in the Videos folder in the emu.

Hey Nate,
However you do it is cool as long as you can make an avi of it and keep it at the same resolution as the SNES videos.
We need help with the Genesis videos. I thought somebody was working on them, but they haven't been around for a while.
Here's my spreadsheet for Genesis:
Genesis Compatibility ListLet me know if you want to do it and give me a gmail address and I can set you up so you can add your names to videos you do. After you've done several, send them to me so I can make sure they'll work before you make a bunch and they're incompatible.
Thanks ahead of time if you do it,

hey rx, i sent madmab some code for soldiers of fortune graphics fix which has graphics glitches, i was checking your spreadsheet and saw it was marked as ok. (it is, but has annoying little glitches on screen) Just shooting you a small update. I didnt want to deface your work.

by the way great work on everything, i see this thread is up to 30 pages!

No worries man. I'd love to have more input from people like that.
Like I said in the intro, I only play a little bit of each game, and a lot of the games I never played on the original systems, so if something isn't blaringly obviously wrong, I might not see it unless it's pointed out. Even better on ya if you have a fix for it.

Especially if it's Soldiers of Fortune. I love that game on SNES, I don't know how good it was on Genesis. (Did you know that the EU version is completely different?)
Heh... Is it 30 pages already? I look at 50 posts per screen so it looks a lot smaller to me.
Gots tons more work to do.....
I'm about halfway through testing the Master System and getting the artwork perfect. I think that and the SC-1000 is all I'm going to get through this weekend. Had bigger plans, but sometimes it's pretty hard sitting down for hours at a time doing this.

yea soldiers of fortune is my fav game on neogenesis and genesis period, and one of the few games that have issue on neogenesis, i had to be the oddball to find it, btu whenever madmab compiles what i sent him and all goes well, it should run the game correctly without breaking anything and could possibly be implemented into the next neogenesis update is madmab wants to.
im waiting patiently for him to send me some results. Its like waiting for x-mas. lol
If i come across any other games i will let you know. Im weird about things in games and always try to document any problems i come across. I remember on your nes list i didnt see a listing for paperboy 2 or b-wings, if you find the rom of b-wings (a1) it will work in mednafenx and paperboy 2 still does not work so i guess i could understand why it wasn't in there.
by the way, did you get my pm about msn?
