I'm just curious. How did you go about picking those extra games for atarixlbox?
Did you ever get those whd files working? I was just thinking of a quick way to get them going (in theory should work).
Select one of the games (anyone) with A, and then exit.
Go to one of the other games (erase the configuration "black") and then load it (press B to exit configuration). It should work now.
Go into the other games (assuming it worked) and remove their configurations the same as you did before.
I'm thinking this should reset the filename of the .hdf file which I'm guessing is storing the path from my configuration.

I grabbed all the games that somebody bothered putting a screenshot up for. A lot of ones that didn't have a screenshot didn't have a rom either, so I didn't bother with them. If you wanted to add any more, just let me know.
I'll have to check that out with the KQ games. I haven't looked at them again yet. Actually, I was taking a short break from the Xtras and getting the newest FBA set together. I can't believe how much that thing changes from release to release.

Hey hellsfury. Thanks for the props
Hey stu. I'm not even sure if I really separated them correctly since the site I used for artwork and names was pretty ambiguous about the format a lot of the time. I just tried my best. All I can say is the ones that are cart are obviously cart because the emu give you the option of selecting the correct cart when you first start the game, and the disks are obviously disks because of the different "sides". Pretty much everything else was thrown into the tape category, right or wrong. I really wasn't too concerned since I did about 600 more games on this system than I had ever intended to do. There is about 6 formats for the 800 roms, and only three categories, so I would assume that cassettes come in CAS, COM, BIN and maybe a few others as well. I couldn't mention the site right here, and I'm not at the computer where I have it bookmarked, but I'm sure madmab could fill you in on a great Atari site that will have everything you need. Google might be faster. It's got a light brown (or golden) background, so if you see that you're there.
Thanks for the help man,

Go to www.atarimania.com
Just so you know not all the games listed under his "cassette" section are actually cassette games.
General rule of thumb. ".bin, .rom" files are usually cartridges. These can be set easily from the main configuration screen (it will ask you to pick the cartridge type when you exit). Some games require you to set the computer type to "Atari 800" but most will run under the default.
".cas" are cassette files. The only ones that will work are the ones that are self-booting and not "Atari basic" titles. I really need to fix this in atarixlbox. I took it out not realizing how many self-booting "basic" titles there are. But all the rest will work.
".xex,.exe., or .com" files are executables. Typically these are pirate rips because atarimania has yet to find a version in it's "original" format.
".atr, .pro, .dcm" are disk titles. If you get them from Atarimania then the game was actually released in "disk" format. There are alot of ".atr" files out there which are really executable files converted to boot as a disk.
".bas" is a basic program. Basic needs to be enabled for it to run.
It is usually a good idea to go into the "computer specific settings" if you pick something besides a cartridge. If the game is from the "USA" pick NTSC, anywhere else pick "PAL" for the region. If the game boots to a DOS screen and you see the message "please type 1 letter", then chances are it's a basic game. So set "enable basic" to yes.
There is probably more, but that is it off the top of my head.

ok. Sometime in the next hour and a half I'll have something for ya. I have about 7 videos to edit before I run out. Still need to record a bunch though.....
I'll also have a config file for you that oughta at least help with the stuff I sent you.
Finally I have a new compile of neogenesis (mostly for Gilles9999) which includes the latest changes the other emu's have in addition to the new synopsis stuff (cleaned up a few things, music controls, etc).
Didn't get a chance to mess with the three emu's you mentioned... But
this link oughta keep you busy for a little while... hehe I'll try to work on those a little bit each day. I pretty much spent my time on neogenesis and going thru mednafenNES to see about the ntsc_filter. Kinda waiting on those mapper changes from xtecutor..

Cool man. At least I got something substantial to do now. I've been mainly organizing and cleaning up things today and I finally just went to bed for a while hoping somebody would come up with something.
I can't believe nobody has gotten me a CoinOPS datfile yet. It takes two minutes to make one. I'm thinking I should just download the whole damn set from megaupload myself and do it, but that pisses me off that I have to do that since I know I already have 99% of the 4.5GB I'd have to download to make these stupid dats.
oh well.... thanks again.

Thanks for checking, but I don't think it did. There are datfiles in the "standalone" version, but they're pretty much datfiles for nearly the entire .84 MAME release. The only known datfiles for the actual included set were made by Gavin19 at the other forum and they didn't work for me. He was using newer versions of programs so they don't work with my stuff. I just don't want to change anything on my system to get them to work right because it's worked perfect for me so far and I don't want to mess anything up in the future.
I've resigned myself to downloading the full version. It will be done in a few hours probably. I'll make the datfiles and then I'll post them on the compatibility thread.
Later,

EDIT: Crap..... this friggin CoinOPS thing is a nightmare. I still have two more links to download and now megaupload is saying my bandwidth is exceeded. That's the first time that happened to me. I just got a bunch of other stuff to download from there too and it keeps telling me to try again in 7 minutes every time I try. Oh well.... I guess I probably won't be getting to much more this weekend. Maybe I'll take a break from it all today.
Hey Gilles,
Would you mind making a "CoinOPS Ignite" button for my thread?

Hey guys,
I need a video for Asterix (E). I know MM? said he couldn't make it but you may be able to make it if you select PAL mode in the emu you're using to create it. Or somebody could set it to PAL on the XBox and record the video.
Because of Gilles fix for Elite (Using PAL mode), I was able to fix about 7 other games. Asterix is the only one we didn't have a video for yet.
All of stupot1's additions and the newly fixed games have complete artwork now as well as the videos (except for the missing Asterix video)
In other news...
Got a lot done on arcades this weekend. FBA and CoinOPS. Eventually I'll get some datfiles out there for the best sets.
Organized and tested about 80% of Gilles' Dynamic Skins with the Madmab Edition and it looks really great so far.
Got sirlemonheads' port of AvP working..... sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Tons of other cleanup and organizing on my Box and mirrored PC.
Backed up all of the information I've posted here (meaning the text, and how it's formated on my threads). I know this stuff changes a lot, but after that 2 day scare when the server went down I want to have all of this backed up so if the worst case happens I can at least go back to this instead of starting from scratch.
Did some re-vamping to this thread.
I'm just about done for now.

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!
Megaupload must really be pissed at me.... or they figure that they can hit me up for money now. It's been about 28 hours since I could download something from there.
Anybody else get one of these "bans" from megaupload before? How long do they last. I figured I'd be in the clear in 24 hours, but it's been nearly 30 now. The first few hours it would tell me "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded".... now it starts the download but it never goes anywhere.
Mega Man (?)
Apr 1 2009, 08:44 PM
Rx,
Maybe it WAS a game that I marked "Can't make this one now"?
That is weird. If that was the case, it was a game that just went blank or something when I tried it the first time.
But... there is only one copy in my Goodset, and I used the same Emu as always.
Yeah, Oh well...
It worked now, and I am glad we (collectively) can continue to work things like this out.
As for megaupload...
I have had similar experiences, but they seem random to whatever they choose that day.
Some days, I can download a bunch and then they start telling me to wait 60-90 minutes.
Other days It seems as if I can just keep downloading, and other days, I download to a point and then they lock me out for about a day.
Good luck, and Thanks

When I connect my computer directly to my modem it won't allow me to download from megaupload.
Any ideas?

Your video was the one I was able to grab when I downloaded it without the router attached.
So IE works, but Firefox doesn't. I went into the firefox options and deleted all cookies for megaupload. I think that may have been the problem, but I won't know until tomorrow probably since this is a 1GB download and I'll probably be at work before it completes.
Hopefully that's behind me now. Kinda screwed up what I wanted to get accomplished this weekend though.

Dang im real frustrated. Im trying to install all the resurrectionx xtras for zsnesbox. I got the newest zsnesbox and romcenter. I tried to "fix my roms" using the tutorials and they are still named the same even after using romcenter. I also wanted to convert the WMV previews to xmv and that failed as well (no xboxdbg.dll). Is there any chance you would ever upload a FINAL package with a recommended romset that we can find on our own? I used the video preview adjust and saw the sample mario video and it was amazing! I usually can figure this stuff out on my own but i dont know what im doin wrong. previously i just made my own favorites lists and custom screenshots on my own. But i want to upgrade to video previews as this would be amazing.

Hey ashtar5
try to have each individual rom zipped before you run them through romcenter. (that should do the trick)
XMV converter, hmm..
You may be using the wrong converter?
Try and down load it again. (WMV to XMV Converter)
make sure all the (xmv) files are in the same folder as your wmv vids, then click the batch file.
it should work.
The files you need are:
xmvtool
msvcr71.dll
run (batch)Don't give up too easily. This stuff is worth it. It will forever be easier for one to figure out how to set it up opposed to (making it yourself) from scratch and/or putting in the work, like all the time it took the collection of its creators, to make.)
Let us know how it goes.

OK, thanks for the response. My roms are all .zips. I thought I download the WMV files then run the .bat and that should turn them into .xmvs right? Im confused how you say you have to have wmv and xmv files in the same directory when I thought I was going to convert them to xmv? If I already had the .xmvs wouldnt I not need to convert anything? Could anybody recommend a version of GOOD SNES romset for me to find on my own? Im gonna try this all again later tonight.

ok so I have a set of snes roms (an older goodset i believe) and I open romcenter. I chose both yours and the resurrection xtras .dats from the pull down menu on two different tries. So I have the datfile and the ADD ROMS DIRECTORY stacked up on the left on the little file tree thingy. I select all the roms from my added roms directory on the right and choose fix. It works for a while but it doesnt really change the file names. Most of my roms were grey color coded which i think means unknown. My romset has (U) and (J) at the end of most of them and "fixing" does not change the file names. I basically followed the tutorial. I tried the shell extension copy to fxn but I ended up with the same named roms. This is my biggest hurdle right now. I dled the files you suggested for the encoder and think that should work. I with I could use a remote desktop connection so you could see whats goin on on my pc. Anyways , Im determined to get videos for all the supported emus (will probably run our of room) as Ive spent years fine tuning my 500gb xbox. ashtar5, did you unzip the roms first before running them through romcenter?
Double-click on one zipped rom, click on the yellow folder icon to list all the zipped roms, select all, then extract (make sure to extract to a new folder).
You should then have a list of unzipped roms
bigby
Apr 4 2009, 12:56 AM
astar5, just to make things clear, in a goodmerged set each individual zip may have several roms within it.
Rx and mm? datfiles might not be able to match up with these zips.
This is why I said to unzip them.
If you get the unzipped roms renamed (and remove the roms that are greyed) then I can expalin how to quickly re-zip them.
Hope you have better luck

You are correct Bigby,
Games rar'ed or zipped together won't render in romcenter. They must be "zipped" and only contain that single rom file within each zip.
Note: I am pretty sure that romcenter doesn't recognize roms that are rar'ed.Remember ashtar,
Our dats and romcenter will take your (thousands of) roms set, and narrow it down to the (near) perfect few. Those are the ones our dats will rename. Those are the ones you can take out of the original set and put as your "Xtras set". They should all be individually zipped. somewhere either at the top or bottom of romcenter you will see the total count of roms that the dat recognizes and also.
Red - the number of them you have missing and
Green - the number of roms you have found that are recognizable in the set you loaded.Good luck.

one more question for now. I have converted all my vids to XMV and put them in the videos/xmv folder in my zsnes 3.5 directory. But how do I get the videos to play in the emulator? I goto image options and see video preview adjust but when i look at super mario world 1 which i renamed to go along with the vid i just see the boxart. Where within zsnesbox do you enable vids? im using 1080i and i remember seeing setting to adjust the skin not sure if that matters. thanks.

ok i got the vids to work. I thought they went in the xmv folder by mistake. Sorry bout all the posts. Without offending anyone, why is the sample video included with zsnesxbox smaller in megabytes (3.83mb v 5.51mb) yet seemingly cleaner looking when viewing in 1080i than the extras one. Thought maybe i encoded it wrong to xmv. I was expecting the same resolution and clarity as the sample vid but the xtras pack ones seem lower resolution possibly? I appreciate all the hard work i just wanna know if im doin something wrong.

It may depend on the conversion you're using. I use the one that I originally got from Horscht in the beginning to convert to XMV. MM? and (I can't remember who) were messing around with it to try and shrink the huge size of the XMV files (the XMV's typically are 2 to 4 times larger than the WMV files). It may have diminished the quality a bit. I can't say for sure as I've never seen it.
I know the original way we had it set up we determined that having it at any higher resolution didn't look any better in the XBox, so we left it at that. (Don't ask me what the resolution or anything is, as I know nothing about that stuff.... I left it up to people who did).
Anyways..... I'm perfectly happy with the way it looks on my 51" TV, but I don't know if you're doing it the same way I do.

Oh... BTW.... pCeSlAyEr and Stupot1 rock. P got a bunch of the TG-16 videos down (even the CD ones) and Stu got about 25 videos for roms that I hadn't even included in the Xtras before. Some of those games are pretty awesome, like the Wardner port for the FDS. So we've got about 25 new games included in the NES dats and artwork now as well. If P keeps kicking ass on the TG-16 like that it shouldn't be long before we have a new Xtras release!
Some teamwork we got going on here. Glad to have more people helping now and I hope we get even more as we move along.

Hi,
I just downloaded the Sega Genesis artwork pack and put it in my Screenshots folder and am having some problems getting them to display i.e nothing is appears. The neogenesis emulator is in my F:\ drive partition in the Emulators folder. The screenshots folder is in E:\ drive partition. My roms are all unzipped but are in alphabetical folder e.g. all the A roms in the folder.
I put them all through rom centre and they were all green I don't know what the problem is and any help would be greatly appreciated even if you just told me how you have yours set up and I could copy that, that would be great.
Thanks,
Crash

Configuration-->Change default directories.
Screenshots have to be in a folder named "GENESIS". Point the emulator to the directory before that. For example if you screenshots are in "E:\screenshots\genesis" point it to "E:\screenshots" and press start.
Personally I would recommend putting screenshots and roms on the F drive and the emulators on E. Since the E partition is always gonna be limited in size.

The Dega emulator records movies to an "mmv" file format.
How do I use this to make a WMV of it?

Hi madmab thanks for the response I did transfer them all to the F:\ drive and I did do the change default directory thing but it doesn't work. What does work though is when I take my own screenshot and it saves it as e.g. Superman (U) [!] instead of just Superman.
Do I need to rename all the folders or roms i'm a bit confused I thought Rom Centre was suppose to rename the roms so they would work.

Don't know..... what do your romnames look like? Do they match the artwork folders and the video names?
The whole point of all of this is that you don't have to rename any folders or videos to get them to work once you've done Romcenter right and are pointing to the right directory.
My guess is either your romnames are still wrong, or you're using the wrong directory. Where is the XBox saving the new screenshots as opposed to the real set?
pCeSlAyEr - I added and merged your videos and spreadsheet entries to the TG-16. Great work on the vids and weeding out more clones. The only vid you said you had that I didn't get in your upload was Gradius.
How do you play R-Type II on the US version? I don't see an option to select which game.
stupot1 - I plan on getting around to your 10 new additions to the NES library today. I'll integrate your videos and make the artwork packs.
bigby - I don't know how to convert Dega's MMV files to WMV. Hopefully madmab or megaman can help you out.

Yeah, I have been considering helping to do the SMS needed videos.
How were the videos done by others for SMS?
I've got the latest version of fusion (v3.61) which allows you to "log AVI file" with it. However when running a game, it doesn't fill the screen like dega does.
Also found mmv2mpg, but can't get it to work

Great
I don't know who did the current SMS vids.
I tried fusion, with the "log AVI file" mode. But, I could only get it to record sound in .avi format... go figure?
What are your results with this? I would like to use Fusion if I could get it to work. I may have ways to fix the "screen fill" problem, but I cant even get that far yet.
Good luck with the mmv conversion tools. It is realy just "trial and error", with those (in my experience).

Did you install the video codec that comes with fusion?
