it'll play 15 seconds of video stop and repeat,
was (tryiung to) watch the A4E release groups's Dragon Drive and this started happening using latest vers of XBMC and its main dashboard

I suggest you look up the proper methods of troubleshooting. There's all sorts of reasons why a given file could be doing any given thing (and no, "because it's an MKV file" likely isn't one of them).
I mean, for all anyone knows you're just holding the D-Pad down...
