IGR works in this emu, but you have to be in the menu (where you select roms).

You know how when you have an older controller, sometimes the game will think you are pressing the stick when you are not? A deadzone is the minimum amount of movement needed before an action is taken, which helps prevent that.
In the 0.60 sources a deadzone was defined and seemed to actually work, controls worked fine. With 0.70, whatever deadzone was there is now gone, so the only way I am going to be able to use the emu at all is if I go out and buy a new controller. |
Yeah... this sucks. I'm having the same problem and I'm not about to run out and get a new controller. I wonder why it worked in the older version and not this one.

i've tried it many times before on both version 6 and 7. Hasn't worked yet. I will try yet again when i transfer a rom in a few minutes to xbox.
Also, i see the controls are fixed, meaning how in version 6, the control would be like a little to the left in default position so guy would move when not pressing anything. At least for me. That seems fixed.

Okay, I've got a couple of stoopid questions. Is it pretty do-able to put the emu + roms on a disk and play from there? I don't want it on my hdd and love just sticking in a dvd-r when I want to play an emu.
Also, do game saves work? How are they accessed?
Thanks

I don't know how you missed the ability to do barrel rolls with the Z button (as that's how I was doing it on .60, before I had the R trigger)... but, I guess that means you never really played StarFox64 on an N64, eh? Either that, or your memory is not what it should be.

Yeah, I have to say that that's one feature I'm waiting for, as I have the big Xbox old-school controller, and therefore have the perfect button layout to re-emulate the control scheme on the N64 controller... so difficult to play Starfox, and have to hit Stick-left to be able to boost. Feels unnatural. Other than that, I am most pleased with what I have, and I thank the coder/author for all of his hard work.
Deb out.

This emu rocks!
But I would just like to say a suggestion. Right now I have to press the buttons pretty hard... It would be better if it recordnized the button as pressed when I really just pressed it half or something like that.

First of all I want to thank the author for all his work on the emulator.
But what I wonder is that if there is any posibility to get the glNintendo64() plugin ported to the xbox.
I just tried it out on a few games with PJ64 for windows and I really liked the visual quality! Zelda looked real good, even better than with Jabos plugins.. And it ran very well to.
Well the source is availible if you wanted to know @

Amazing job ... and I can't believe that the author is actually going to try to get a vmm running on Xbox ... if he somehow manages the impossible then maybe that code could be implemented into Mame-X for some of the larger Neo-Geo roms! VMM would open up everything, even if it does sound a bit far-fetched. Then again, I didn't think I'd see such a perfect example of Mario 64 running! (For some strange reason, running Mario 64 with the new Rice plugin removes the HUD ... no stars or lives .... strange)
Also the L-Trigger = Z Button is most appreciated. Was playing Mischief Makers and noticed that the button config is a bit difficult, but the game plays great.

A word of advice; don't try to invest too much time on Diddy Kong Racing, as it randomly freezes. Also, I wonder why the C controls don't work for Pokemon Snap. No way to move the camera around. Good times, though...fun release.

Hehe, Well first let me laugh at your hasty decision.. muhahaha
Then let me explain to you that glNintendo64() is an opengl plugin!
(And just to use CAPS as you) IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO USE A NVIDIA GEFORCE CARD.
And to assure you let me quote from the readme...
| QUOTE (readme) |
--------------- Requirements ---------------
It should work with any OpenGL 1.4 compatible video card (not extensively tested yet), although a GeForce is recommended because of it's advanced blending abilities.

The US version seemed to run fine, apart from the corrupted menus. In fact, in 2 player mode it was a little bit too fast.
As for Blast Corps.. yeah it works, very laggy though with Rice 5.0 - as well as all the other Rare games. Must have something to do with the microcode Rare were using on all their games.

A couple clarifications...
Yes, this uses rices latest 5.0.1 plugin.
It plays super smash brothers *every time* for me. make sure you have a (U) [!] rom. It plays alright aside for a few stutters in gameplay and messed up menu's.
Regarding the contest...
In accordance to all legal aspects, the pot will go to pj64-x. Yes, i know UltraXLE plays zelda. Unfortunately the author of UltraXLE didnt beat pj64-x. First come first serve. The UltraXLE author has said that he is happy that the PJ64-X author recieved the funds, and that he is being very charitible with it.
What 32mb roms play?
Rayman 2 and Road Rash 64 are two off the top of my head.
Keep in mind that UltraXLE has a very small compatibility listing. Mario kart,Mario 64, zelda OOT, and goldeneye are the only big titles that play with it.
The author ported it specifically for those. Im very happy that he did. I also spoke with him briefly with an idea..
Making it so that you can rename the ultraxle.xbe to PJ64-daed.xbe and launch it in PJ64-X ...that way you can use a single emulator with higher compatibilty. Or vice versa if the UltraXLE author feels like creating a new UI that can launch PJ64-X xbe's. Either way we will work something out for the end users =)

I don't want to bring this up AGAIN but I just want to say I feel embarrased by the whinging that's going on... i'm a part of this scene, I love it but i'm amoungs a heap of ungreatful morons, I'm personally extreamely greatful to everyone involved in EVERY release even if I don't need it... and i'm sure most others feel the same way.
it's just unfortunate the attitude of the rest can bring us all down.
