Hey all, been a while since i have been on, but been messing around with my box and nes emu as of late now that i got a few minutes of time. Been messing around with filtering options and i have a question to you that know alot about resolution and crisp pixels.

Is there any conceivable way to make the xbox display crisp and sharp graphics like the nes did? Sometimes when i toggle certain filters it seems like vasoline is just smeared all over the tv. LOL. i did give a read on cospefogos screen tutorial but is there a way to ever have some sort of option implemented into mednafenx-nes like a nes resoltuion setting, or is that more of a problem with the xbox itself displaying the screen that way, i dont know it just seems like when i compare the two, there is a noticeable difference, or maybe the xbox emu needs what nestopia had, the actual analog to tv emulation, i know mednafen is not cycle accurate like the nes and nestopia, but that's something else i have been trying to learn about.

I don't know, if you guys have any thoughts post em here. I have been away for a while but would like to contribute in some small way to the recent resurgence you could say of emulators on xbox. Madmab, Rx, all you guys just keep going! its awesom inspiration!

Giles9999 new skin for the coleco allows me to play in 1080i or 720p and that looks better than the original did.He might be doing one for nes as well.You might want to check with him.On coleco this made a big difference it might on nes as well.

It's all the same to me. I got a 51" TV and my eyes are shitty anyways, so I barely know the difference between filters.....

Funny, huh? As obsessive as I am about the extras, slight screen tearing or bluriness that isn't enough to make a game unplayable doesn't bother me?

Probably because I had the genius Nesticle back in 98 or 99 and have seen most of the flaws from the beginning of emulation disappear.

Talk to madmab and NES, and maybe even BP. They might not be able to help directly, but they might have good advice for you. Glad to see you back around here and I hope you're enjoying the Xtras.

Thanks for the kind words Rx, yea i hadnt had the time like i used to but i wanted to help out back when you was making the videos, but lately things in my life are taking alot of my time and sometimes i dont even know what day it is.

Perhaps i will ask bp or nes or madmab is there something that could be done, it seems to me that compared to earlier nes emulators, the screen has gotten less blurry. And dont get me wrong i am not complaining i have just always wanted to push nes emulation one step further. I do not want to come off as greedy to anyone on here, im on what you could say, i guess the questy for the pixel, i love the crisp graphics of an nes on my tv, i compared them side by side and there is a difference.

I guess you could say im trying to help squeeze out every last drop of emulation on xbox, no matter what anyone says, the xbox 1 right now is the ultimate home console emulation beast. I have just always wanted to help make it better and better.

Nestopia's code is very very advanced C++, but maybe there is a way to implement some of the things, but not all, or perhaps in time nestopia will become less cpu intensive and the xbox would shine with a nestopia port, not that mednafen is bad, but if there is one machine that brings out the kid in me, it's my nes.

example, you want to play the nes looking for the most accuracy and fidelity possible to reproduce the original graphics and resolutions.
-No, the xbox can't display nativelly 256*224(nes resolution)
-the best way to reproduce the original graphics and resolutions is:

1)a standard TV(I have myself a HDTV, but for the low resolution , standard tv is better)if you are playing emus on hdtv, you have to activate filter such as advance mame2* the best filter in my opinion

2)double size the resolution (512*448) on a standard tv, desactivate all the filters, flicker filter =0
and you will have the feeling to play the original nes

3) i prefer to play emus on a standard tv than on pc , because low resolution is better on a standard tv
(double sized resolution to be exact)

4)in fact there is an option, when i will release the futures dynamic skins for the systems like nes, genesis, etc...,because it is hard to remember the systems originals resolutions
i will save the good pixels ratio settings in the settings.ini of the skin, so when you will launch a dynamic skin, you will know you'll have the correct aspect ratio by (default);640*448 screen for the most accuracy genesis screen for example

Not in most emus you don't.

I have all the MD/SNES/SMS/Amiga emus setup at either 3x (720p) or 4x (1080i) the original resolution without any filters on and they look awesome.
