Jasper Xbox 360s on the Shelves?

From joeygadget.com:
[QUOTE]
According to the Xbox 360 DVD Drive Database, it appears Xbox 360s outfitted with the much-anticipated Jasper chipset have finally started showing up in stores and at online retailers.

The key things to look for when buying a new Xbox 360 with the Jasper chipset is a manufacturing date (MFR) as early as 2008-08-06, Lot 8031 and up, and Team CSON.

sad.gif I just got mine from the repair center. Manufactured 12/07, its new though.
The whole process took 12 days.

Took them long enough...

mmm if u look @ the posts under comments not a single person has been able to verify they have a jasper chipset, I call shenanigans for now. No pics, no new power bricks, ect ect. Trolls make me go to bed angry grr.gif

Exactly....how would they know what they're looking for in a different model? I doubt it will say Jasper on the box. 360drives has had the Jasper option available for a few months now so it was only a matter of time before people just started putting it for their model. If they're so confident that have a Jasper why not post pics on a popular website such as this one?!

update:
HAHA, here's what one of the posters on 360 drives said was his proof that it was a Jasper "All I can say is that it was made in September, so that leads me to believe it's a Jasper, unless you think they are still making Falcons in September"
bloody brilliant Trebek!!!

whats so good about the jasper boards as oppused to the opus boards

me wanna see pics to believe....

recent price drop and now suspected jasper mobos = good deal...
Tyrannical
I knew it was BS.
No one can claim a Jasper with out pics.
But thanks to this, idiots on gamefaqs will be all jasper this, jasper that.
jimbobjim
This means nothing without pics. People on this site have been claiming to have Jasper boards for months in their avatar info.

I think its a bit poor of xbox-scene calling this news, this is puremake believe unless there is some proof.

65nm gpu, since the gpu overheating was the major problem that caused about %99 of 3rlod alot of ppl are waiting to get a 360 with a gpu that stays cooler, not to mention the supposed redesigned cooling system (that i will be redesigning when i get my hands on one).

agreed, i would have waited for pix before i posted on main page, i think it will be mid-late nov before these start showing up but i have been wrong before.

+1

Maybe the title should be changed to 'Rumor:' until there's some solid proof!
babloo

we are waiting for pictures u know substantial proof . when its gonna happen .
can somebody tell what changes of hardware will be in the mobo xcept the 65nm gpu die .

I owned a Xenon 360 which I had to fix using the x-clamp method and the drive was bad, I had longer loading times in BF:BC than all the other players. So I waited a long time for that Jasper box.

Then I bought a Falcon with Benq yesterday, because I don't want a Liteon drive. The Falcon is in no way more silent than a Xenon and I really don't think the Jasper will be. It will be a little cooler and maybe need less power, but I don't think there will be a noticeable difference in noise production
Tyrannical
I think Jaspers are a longer time away then we think.
There was a slight HW difference with the 60gb 360s, a pair of memory chips near the GPU were removed. Presumably because the two remaining were double capacity. I don't think theye would have bothered with that if Jaspers were only a month or so away.

I think they are saving the Jaspers for a "slim" 360, though I don't think it will be that much smaller.
washawaytheblood
i think we all agree that after checking this out that xbox-scene was quick to jump on this as NEWS, I second the idea to change this to Rumor until proof is shown
Tyrannical
It's not a rumor, its 100% fake.
Anyone can post on that site and claim they have a Jasper. If you follow the comments associated with the Jasper claims its obvios how fake it is.

But for some reason it got picked up by a couple of blogs, and now the chatter is picking up in various forums. Kotaku still stinging from the cheapassgamer stunt has so far not reported it.

And this stupid story made a liar out of me. I've told people for months in forums that if Jaspers were out, it'd be on the front page of xbox-scene.

If MS makes changes to the CPU or GPU, it will not reduce noise as it is coming from the fans and dvd drive.

The new updates are to make the system run cooler.
ivc
It seems there are no substantial evidence that Casper is out yet.

A way to identify the new GPU would be to compare it to the older revisions.

The DVD drive creates the most noise so the fall update is going to be the best thing for that since you can install games to the hard drive.

opus only comes from the ms repair factories. it is a board that is similar to the falcon mobos, with the exception that it doesn't have hdmi. this allows them to re-use the cases from xenon and zeyphr systems. it is essentially a xenon with the rrod fixes done to it.

jasper is the next true revision, and actually brings a new chipset to the table.

Any motherboard that will plug into a 175watt xbox 360 power supply is a Opus board. They are all over in stores mostly with lite-on drives and as well they have been coming back from microsoft. I am not sure about a non hdmi opus board. I dont think i have seen one.

The 205watt boards have a square pin in the center of the power plug on the back of the 360 on opus its missing.

You are confusing Falcon with Opus. Opus is not available to the general public on the high street and does not have HDMI. Opus mobos are basically the same as Falcons but with the HDMI removed. Like Reaper said you will only get one of these direct from Microsoft if you sent in an old Xenon. This saves Microsoft binning thousands of non HDMI compatible cases and prevents people intentionally RROD'ing their old Xenons to get a new HDMI 360 in return.

i feel like microsoft has like finally launched an actual console unlike the other garbage theyre selling now and if this brakes down im assuming that microsoft hasnt launched a real console yet until ms releases a console that wont break i will consider it an actual console cuz other stuff was garbage the amount of rrods is still unexceptable on ms's part

Maybe a basic English class would be better then a console.

So 5 total entries with people claming to have jaspers. Wait, make that 6 because I think Im going to go post mine up saying it's a jasper rolleyes.gif

I LOL'ed at this comment:

This thing is very, very quiet. I'm going to assume this is the jasper/casper board due to the manufacture date but i will edit when i find out otherwise

laugh.gif The fact that you need one worse than him makes it even funnier.

But yeah back to topic, announcing this without ANY proof is definitely a silly move.
Merkaba
i dont think its so hard to believe.

2 reasons.

ATI is down to 55nm and IBM is down to 22 (or will be very soon) right?

and.

The cooling system looks the same (y RnD for a heatsink when the current one will be plenty sufficient for the new cooler 65 nm chips)

this is why i feel jasper is out there.

hello, long time lurker and first time poster

my old 2006 core machine finally got its RROD last week.

i had planned to take this week off to spend the entire week on the xbox as my car was away getting a bigger engine fitted biggrin.gif

so i went out in the back end of last week and bought a new elite to tide me over, figuring i would sell the core machine on when it comes back (wanted the bigger HD and wireless controllers anyway)

checked my manufacturing date this morning while registering the box with MS and IIRC i have a 13-8-2008 machine

lot 0833 on the box

i am a bit reluctant to take it apart for you lot as i like my warrantee wink.gif

but if you know of any other ways to let you know which revision it is, i will have a go at some point today (got nothing better to do, seams like xbox live is down again?!?!)

cheers

just been asked by a mate to check the PSU to see if its 175w

to be honest i was still using the core psu (203w) so checked the new one (still wrapped up lol) and it is 175w (not sure if this helps you lot?)

what is this supposed to prove? you haven't taken the system apart, so there is no way to know whats inside of that.
Merkaba
**NOT Allowed** of course u can see a bit of the cooling system by shining a flash light through it. ur camera looks decent enuff to get some shots through the vents. there was a guide on how to do it on these forums from a while back i dunno if its still around. do a search.

yea theres already lots of pictures of the current cooling system all over the web. comp.gif
gatorayde
The newest cooling setup would be a falcon, and if the jasper in deed does have a 65nm gpu, I would not see microsoft changing the cooling anytime soon, especially for a chip that will run cooler.

Yep I got a falcon when they came out and I was so apalled with the noise I sold it and stuck with my PS3.
Will re-buy a 360 when I can finally load games to the hard disk drive, you guys who put up with the optical noise, good for you but I thought it was absoloutely terrible.

i have no idea?

you tell me ?

i did not even realise that the PSU had changed at all.

i posted up figuring i was doing you lot a favour if you could work it all out with some of my help.

i wont be taking it apart, i have no need to, i had no idea "jaspers" even existed until yesterday morning as i am not "into the scene"

makes no odds to me what the hell it is, my core broke, i sent it back for refurb and bought an elite, and figured if i could, i would give you lot a hand rolleyes.gif without butchering the case.

if the elite broke and the core was sold, i would buy another while i sent it back for refurb and "sell it on" when it comes back.
Wilhelm_I
Not really on topic but dont use that to blank stuff in your pictures...
IPB Image

People can just restore the actual picture by reversing the algorithm, the pixels are still there, they have only been moved out of place...
Either just black it out or blur it until you cant read it anymore...

This doesnt proof that Jasper is out yet though and if it happens you will be able to find it on the mainpage with highres pictures of the mainboard...
S-M
are all the "new" PSU`s supposed to have this same text on the back ?

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x127/MR...new360brick.jpg

because mine has different text on it, still 14.2a but it is a different model number.

one thing i did notice was that the old PSU, has "buttons" to help remove the connector from the xbox, with a metal shield type "ground" around the outside.

the new one has no buttons what so ever and no "grd" around the outside of the connector plug

might just be the same as the new PSU`s for all i know

I have a falcon elite that was a jet engine until the hitachi was replaced with a spoofed benq. Its the hitachi drive that makes the noise, not the falcon mobo.
