Can I use these I have 2xUSB on my front lcd panel but they do not seem to work at all?

To rephrase my question. I would like to use my Kempston USB Joysticks with say, MAME arcade emulator.
I would also like to use them with the spectrum emulator.
Is this possible? If not then how do I go about modifying to make it work!
Are there any other people who have Kempston USB Joysticks and want to use them on xbox?

As far as I know the USB ports on the control panel were in fact wired into the xbox joystick ports.
So why do they not seem to work?
