My dvd drive laser might be going bad, ordered a replacement, it said I had to de-solder the anti static point on it, I dont know what that is or where it is, can anyone help?

So what am I suppose to do just heat the solder point up, and melt that piece off? seems kinda hard im not that good at soldering, can anyone give me some tips?

you need to desolder that point on the laser. Here is a video of using wick to remove the solder. Skip about 1:15min into the vdeo, as the first section cover's how to use a pump and this point is way to small to use one. BTW, before you make useless posts search google. All of this information was found on google.

usually it will suffice to wipe the hot soldering iron across the point. the solder will stick to the iron, enough to disconnect the two/three points.

I believe I tested once, that the top 2 points are connected via the circuit board whether or not you desolder them. But the bottom one doesnt
