1.) can you just edit a few limes of an xbe file with a hex editor or fo you have to de xbe it then edit then re xbe it.

2.) when you hook a keyboard up to the xbox and type in the middle of a game or such it is recieving the text just doesn't know what to do with it? right?

You need the XDK to compile any xbe...
As for your idea, taking a game, editing the .xbe to allow keyboard input then reasembling the xbe isn't going to work.
Edit: sorry for being such a prick and assuming this is what it was for......
