is there a BIG difference between 1.4 and 1.4.1?
will i damage my 360 in the long run using 1.4?

It's very easy to mod a drive (this should be in the DVD-ROM forum, or better yet the newbie forum) if you want to upgrade to 1.41, if you don't turn off your console *after* playing a game, then the drive will probably keep spinning. It's not going to harm your system, but it may lead to motor failure. The only other difference is you can choose 8x for your read speed with 1.41 too.
