SR2 review copy keeps coming up all over the place as the cause, so it's quite likely it is one of the causes for the ban wave... I sure hope not but I will know later if it is... I'll update then.

seriously...how many people actually change their firmware so they can copy their original games??? Those that have enough knowledge to change their firmware probably know how to find a scene release or two. The bottom line is " SO WHAT " A working console can be found on Ebay for around 100USD. That is less than the price of 3 retail games. 3 DL DVD's are around 10USD, even cheaper if bought in stacks. So now that we have had almost an entire year without a ban sweep, think about all the money you have saved yourself, and go get a used working console somewhere. I would be careful of the newly listed 360's on ebay though

personally i doubt it will be from fallout3 or any other none microsoft games that got leaked early on purpose, if they got caught they would get fined huge.

My guess is they are doing it on microsoft games, maybe leaked early.

i have the oldest firm as i failed at trying to update it tryed 2 of my pc's with sata i think i have a wrong chipset and they cant boot from flashdrive anyways! my console ive had it for over 2 years always play online the past year though with the ban scare i set my played games to only friends can see and the past 6 months i dont play games online or save anyway before release dates !
and whenever there is a scare i clear my cache like i did today i checked my live status all cool so i have just tryed my own kreon rip of saints row 2 and suprise works fine online it did ask me to update because i cleared cache i was shitting myself but all was cool thank god
i have gow2 allstars version havnt been online with it yet dont know wether i should it is meant to be fully stealthed and retail i played it early but didnt save or log on my account i also have a version of cod5 i wanted to try but running it through abgx it says bad kreon for lower firm than 1.4 and same with mirrors edge

Over a week ago my friend told me that there a torrent of GOW2. I told him, I know, but I don't download 360 games because you never know what you are downloading and I feel you have a much greater risk of being banned from live.

I only play backup from games I ripped myself.

I would not put it past MS to purposely leak GOW2 with some kind code that tags your console for ban.

I can check if the early SR2 causes a ban when I get home. I have a console which has only ever had this review copy in it. However, I doubt the ban wave is limited to only 1 game... I will post later with what I find out.

Not banned. Xenon 360 which originally had a 79fl drive. Have a ms25 spoofed and flashed with latest ixtreme. Never played a backup as I only replaced the drive as MS screwed me on a warranty repair on a dead dvd drive.

It would be more helpful if people could just post the information I have instead of trying to speculate why the ban wave has commenced. From what I have been reading people are assuming it is the seed4me releases that is causing the ban wave but judging from my own experience this may not be the case.

Why Game Consoles Are Sold At A Loss

Game companies use the old "Shaving Razor" business model (sell a full razor cheap, replacement blades expensive). It's much like when I was 14 working at a movie theater... the theater made practically zero money from ticket sales which all went to the movie distributors. That's why a medium pop and popcorn costs 15 bucks. Thats also why theaters get pissed when you sneak food in. You're basically cutting off their only source of revenue. This is the same with microsoft, who are more than morally and economically correct to try to stop people from stealing their main revenue stream (duh, its a f***ing business). You should expect to be banned if you mod your console because you knew it was wrong in the first place to do it. You don't like microsoft, fine, but don't blame them for stuff you don't have a clue about in the first place.

BTW, played Fallout 3(seed4me), Fable 2, GOW2, and Endwar as soon as they were released and not banned yet, using an Arcade 360 with benq 1.41. hold on, i'll check again... yup, still good.

2 year old premium with iXtreme 1.4.1 on the original Samsung MS25. I have played online with PES09 only but I have played and tested the pre-released games ( Pure, GOW2, SR2) however none of these were played online AND the network cable was unplugged.

I only copy my games so the originals stay safe. I don't mind spending $1.50 on a new DVD-R DL as compared to $60 for another copy of a game that got ruined. Anyone remember the issue of 360's that were scratching discs because the console got slightly bumped.

As for the Movie Theatre, I sneak my own food in because the Theatre does not accommodate my heath needs (unsalted, unbuttered popcorn)
