Hello,
Can anybody tell me when was the last time someone got his/her console banned from Xbox Live ? I haven't heard of any ban waves in this year 2008, maybe Microsoft realized that their mod detection can trigger some false positive or they prefer keep being paid Xbox Live fees even from owners of modded consoles

the banning happens from booting your system with an unstealthed backup. they don't ban at random times. i forget when the last revision to their ban scheme came, but it was related to a bug in the firmware that caused it to spit out bad data

Except they'd sit on it for months and then on a random day ban a bunch of people at once. Which makes it harder to figure out what the new ban criteria was, and to keep people from unplugging their network cables until someone figures out a workaround.
So there was a little randomness in what day they decided to execute the banhammer. It wasn't like the original live where you'd get banned within minutes if you used a hacked console.
For all we know they have a new detection method and have sat on it for 6 months and gathered the data and on a random day we'd have a banwave.
I somewhat doubt this will happen.. as the last method for detection banned legit consoles too, so I think if they resorted to such a touchy method, then they must have already been grasping at straws.

I've got a friend who's banned since yesterday!!
I've checked the error code etc -> banned.
I don't see anyone else with a ban so maybe it's false alarm but the timing could be good for MS as the new dashboard is coming....
Be prepared (you're too late anyway)

I thought on 1.4 as long as you had the security sectors, unstealthed was safe? Or maybe it was the other way around?

If you're not using iXtreme 1.4 (or 1.41) you're at a higher risk, period. Check all your games with mulleter or abgx.

this is the problem im thinking it might be a IP ban ? becouse when i got banned i did a connection test right away it said IP failed so i reset my router then it all passed apart from xbox live then it said
This account has been banned for voilation of the terms of use . To protect the Xbox LIVE service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about account bans . There is no recourse for Terms of Use voilations.
which brings me to believe any account using my ip will be banned from connecting i hope this is not the case becouse on the first xbox it was IP bans

edit from the post above seems i might be totally wrong lol o well keep the info comming people

ok here is the status on my end over here out of 6 of my friends right now 3 are ok 2 have yet to get home yet to test there system and 1 being my roommate got banned all systems are using ixtreme 1.4. my roommate xbox says account ban but when he claled xboxlive support they told him it was a console banned it was confirmed it was a console ban when i had him try it out on my console and was able to get on with know problem with my console. how are people getting caught is still unknown right now. me and my group of 6 are trying to figure it out our selfs if it could have been a certain game or from playing a game before release date or if microsoft has found a new way to detect copy games.
ok can we confirm over here if any1 console has gotten banned that does not have a firmware update and has done nothing illegal on there system and has never played a back up or anything??????? i been reading the xbox.com forums and it seems that this could be the case where people who did nothing wrong are getting banned so we need people to confirm this also please post

Innocent people were getting banned last time because the laser on there 360s were wearing out apparently. No point in buying a new console that the main reason they ban everyone! Think about it. Just before Christmas and an update what can they do to get more people to buy new Xbox's? Oh wait start a ban wave ban innocent people with older 360s and modded 360s and then when they ring up don't tell them why there banned. Fucking greedy microsoft!
Ill just mod every1 elses xbox's

they can do what they like with them pirate or what not.

Thats because MS records a bad disc months and months in advance.. they just dont act on it right away.
And guys... accounts are not banned it is ALWAYS just the console. You buy a new system.. dont mod it and you will be fine. You dont lose anything.

Games played: every pre'd release (again rofl!)

The nephew who hasn't played in months is probably lying. I'm gonna take a not-so-wild guess and venture to say this has something to do with Gears of War 2, specifically a scene release which has a bad SS.

I think most of these bannings probably stem from playing an improperly stealthed game online or playing a release real early online(same as before) and got banned. I myself first installed NXE then after that flashed my box and wasn't able to sign on since I wasn't one of the early testers so I PLAYED gears 2 like a week early but wasn't able to sign onto live regardless because of the NXE issue. I want to know if anyone who's been banned have NXE installed and got the message. I'll wait till Nov 19 and try it out.

No NXE here, and I normally check all my games with mullet or schtrom stealth checker
I checked all the games I've played lately and all pass muster.
I'm still left scratching my head.

NXE here, non-preview as well. I played Gears 2 about 3 days before release and with network cable unplugged. Not banned yet though, the only backups I play online are ones ripped myself with my Kreon. Although, last week I did let a friend use his downloaded Far Cry 2 online on my 360. Still, no ban code in my network status yet.

My theory is that the majority of people that have modified 360's will be banned...don't think you're safe just because you weren't banned today or tomorrow...remember microsoft do it over a couple of weeks.. I think microsoft found a way to detect the firmware...it's only a matter of time now....it's a perfect time for microsoft to do it too ...right before the big holiday season and right before their new dashboard is about to hit...their biggest games just released too...fable 2, COD: WaW, and Gears of War 2...and the main features of those games are the multiplayer so they figured...good time to ban these people with modified xbox 360's so we can generate revenue by making them buy another system since I'm pretty sure a majority of people will because they want to play these games online...

I don't know why people always say disconnect your cable until it's over...it doesnt work......if you are going to get banned you are going to get banned...During the last wave of bans people was saying the same crap....unplug your ethernet wire and wait it out til a new firmware hit...I surely did it and updated my firmware...loaded up my xbox tried to connect to live then bam....instant ban....

You can't group everyone together. Many people here who use backups own every game they have a backup of, and those who do otherwise are not welcome here.
Unfortunately, when things like this happen, everyone claims the same thing, and it's that much harder to solve (if the dishonest people are claiming they were honest, then they're remaining dishonest, and can't give accurate facts, etc).
Either way, when you modify your system, you know it could be banned; we've been spoiled by having XBL accessibility, and everyone thinks they should have the best of both worlds. I just hope MS isn't banning consoles on a "maybe" again (last time it resulted in numerous unjust bans).
