Hello everyone im new to the bored .. i have a little prob with my xbox right now it seems the newer game i burn and try to play all give me this MSG Update required - an update must be applied to your console to play this game. if you decline this update, you will not be able to play this game... do i update or not??

i can be but i thought if you go online with a flashed drive you will get baned

Any system or game updates are completely independent of the DVD drive hack. So this means go ahead and update anytime you want. There is no risk.

I got Fable 2 today and did the install and now none of my back ups will work only originals. All the backs up says Unplayable Disc now.

That doesn't make sense.. Game / Dashboard dont affect the system like that.

What media is the backups on.. is it cheap?

That is like saying I put new tires on my car and now my radio don't work.

Like Havok said that does not make any sense. One does not affect the other two completely different things.

Ether your media is bad or you are not burning properly.

If it was a VERY VERY old dashboard Microsoft did change some of the parameters that affect disk reading, but if you are using quality media it shouldnt matter.

All backups are on good Verbatim discs. No backups work now after I did update from Fable 2. Original discs work but no back ups will work. I tried 15 different back ups the all worked prior to. All stealth checked all burned with pioneer 112d using xbox backup creator. Fable 2 updated dashboard to 2.0.6717 and now all back ups show up as Unplayable Disc. I even rebacked up an older game and tried and no good back ups will no longer work.

Whatever reason your games don't work have absolutely nothing to do with the game update. I picked up Fable 2 today and when I first ran it it updated my 360 and all still works fine.

Just to be sure I ran the game on 7 other 360's I have here and all work like a charm on backups and retail disks.

Well backups have been working fine for 1.5 years now right up until I got fable 2 and it updated dashboard now none work, seems to be a little too much of a coincedence.

I have had that dashboard update for a long time.. Fable didnt ask me for updates and I have no problems.. neither has anyone else I know.

I would have to say its just cooincidence and that your laser is just getting weaker..
