I just watched a video on IGN of a guy loading Fable 2 to his hard drive to see if it made the system any quieter.

I don't care about how loud my system is. But he downloaded Fable 2 to his hard drive... Is what Im seeing something completely different from what is really going on? Because by the looks of it he is backing up Fable 2 and playing it off his hard drive.

If this is actually what happened, whats the point of the mods at this point in time, or even in the future? Especially with NXE's community homebrew is almost pointless, with the exception of a few applications.

Am I the only one thinking this or am I completely off target here?

Yes, essentially you are backing up your disc onto the hard drive. However, the disc still needs to be inserted in the drive to access the security portions. Only then can you play the game off the hard drive. Ideally in the future some kind of iso loader would be created to allow people to simply run the game off the hard drive without the disc inserted.

i agree you still need the DVD in the drive to check the copy protection. However the games played from the HDD seem to run between 50% - 70% faster. Which is all good and also less wear and tear on the abysmal DVD drives that seem to come with the XBOX360 machines.
